HomeMy Public PortalAboutPW December 2010 For Period Ending: Decembers 31, 2010 Department Project Comments Status  PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT:  Administrative/Engineering Deinhard Lane Reconstruction/ARRA Grant CH2M Hill is completing a new task order and manhhour estimates for review by LHTAC. Design will begin the first part of January and is to be completed by the end of March. New  Administrative/Engineering ARRA pedestrian Access Walkways Provided engineering/construction/ contract management for project. Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Development Project Acceptance Prepared updated infrastructure punch lists for Aspen Ridge Phase III, Greystone Village, Crystal Blue Condominiums Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Engineering Specifications/Code Revisions Public Works has started developing code revisions for the water and wastewater utilities, revising engineering and drainage standards and specifications. Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Hwy 55 Speed Study Public Works reviewed the speed study conducted by ITD on Highway 55. Public Works will conduct additional speed studies this winter, spring and summer and provide additional information to City Council. Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Land Use Application Reviews Provided engineering review and approval for various DR, CUP, and PUD preliminary and final design plans. Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Lift Station 7 Public Works is working with CH2M Hill on picking a design alternative for Lift Station 7. Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Mill Street Parking Lot Bathroom Provided engineering assistance to the Parks and Rec. Dept for project plans, specifications and contract documentation/award. Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Pavement Management Initial Streets CIP was approved by City Council. Public Works conversion to IWorqs software for pavement management is complete. Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Pre-Chlorination Building Conceptual alternatives for chlorinating raw water supply are being looked at. CHM2Hill is assisting with preparing an outline of alternatives, and additional work will continue. Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Recycle Center Valley County Commissioners have approved the Recycle Center Lease. Construction will begin in the spring of 2011. Ongoing  Administrative/Engineering Software Evaluation Public Works has purchased fleet management software from IWorqs and is in the process of implementing this software by collecting data on all City vehicles and major equipment. Public Works will continue to purchase additional modules in the coming months to better document Public Works maintenance activities, work orders and customer complaints. Due to current storm, assisted businesses in removal of large accumulation of snow & ice next to curbs. New  Streets Winter Maintenance Began cleaning snow away from fire hydrants when time allows, as well as checking and replacing roadway delineators. Making contact with private snow removal contractors placing snow out of driveways and sidewalks in to our roadways. Ongoing  Streets Emergency Call ins One call in for street sanding. Also assisted with tree removals after high winds. Ongoing  Streets Equipment Maintenance Crews assisted with minor equipment maintenance and chain repairs. Ongoing  Streets Sanding Continue to sand the streets as needed Ongoing  Streets Stormwater Drains Still monitoring drains to make sure all are clear from ice, when time allows Ongoing  Streets ROW maintenance Performed additional trimming of trees in right-of-way to allow for snow storage. Suspended until spring  Collection/Distribution Springs Apartments City has granted substantial completion approval of the water and sewer infrastructure, with a punch list to be addressed and completed in the spring by developer. New  Collection/Distribution Emergency Call outs Crews responded to three emergency call out for broken water lines in houses. Meters were turned off until repairs can be made by owners. New  Collection/Distribution Knowles Road Booster Station Power spike blew out voltage protection, shutting down station for three days while repairs were being made. Damaged part ordered and will be installed when received. Currently this is being performed weekly to prevent back- ups. Ongoing  Collection/Distribution Lifts Stations Crews continued wet well cleaning and inspections in preparation of winter. Ongoing  Collection/Distribution Water Meters & MXU’s Crews continue to check water meters, and adjusted those where there have been some ground shifting or homeowners changes to surface affecting accessibility. Continue to investigate any meter not reading to determine cause of failure. Once the problem is diagnosed repairs or replacement are performed. Working with Census to replace all MXU’s that are under warranty. Ongoing  Collection/Distribution Lift Station 8 Final Punch List completed, pending receipt of replacement parts from Smith & Loveless. Completed  Wastewater Treatment Aeration Blowers Winter time service work on blower #2 & #3. Ongoing  Wastewater Treatment J Ditch Additional winterization to be completed shortly. Valves will be opened to keep the ice broken up. Completed   Water Treatment Air Leak Repairs completed. Completed  Water Treatment Boiler/water plant Service call on boiler #2. System keeps shutting down. Pending for repair quote. Completed
