HomeMy Public PortalAboutCD Monthly department report 2011-02-10 Department Project Comments Status  Community Development Grants Submitted a Surface Transportation Program-Rural application for federal aid funding for the reconstruction of Wooley Ave.  New  Community Development Transportation The City Planner is now a member of the District Coordinating Council for the I-WAY process, which is responsible for making funding decisions for 5310, 5311, 5316, and 5317 grant funding sources. New  Community Development Economic Development Michelle met with the new University of Idaho Extension employee Willem (Vim) Braak. Sixty percent of his time is dedicated to economic development work in Valley County. New  Community Development McCall Redevelopment Agency MURA held a special meeting on January 27, 2011 to reject all bids for the sundial project. The project will be rebid and close on Feb. 18. The next meeting is February 22, 2011 at 8 am. The Agency representatives attended a land auction for the purchase of 1133 E. Lake Street (Huckleberry Corner). The min. bid was $465,000 and there were no bids so the auction was closed. Updated  Community Development McCall Improvement Committee Plans are underway for the MIC’s biannual fundraiser, which is a Valentines’ Day dinner and dance. Updated  Community Development Historic Preservation Commission The HPC has been working on a walking tour brochure of historic properties, and a series of articles on McCall’s early history for the centennial celebration. The first article was released in January. New  Community Development Centennial Committee Staff has been coordinating meetings for the McCall Centennial Committee. An update on the Committee’s work was provided to Council on January 27. Updated  Community Development Building Permits -43 Total building permits (FY11) - 2 Commercial EDU permits 1 Res. EDU permit - 40 non-EDU permits -average value ($96,256.76) - 2 water hook-ups ($8,800) - 0 sewer hook-ups Updated  Community Development Building 43 building permits were issued in FY11 and 2 were commercial EDU permits. 2 water connections and 0 sewer connections were sold. The total value of building permits for FY11 is $3,561,500. This generated $ 44,636.60 in building and plan check fees. Updated  Community Development P&Z Commission The February 8th meeting has the following applications: 1 SUB extension request, 2 CUPs, 1 VAR, and 1 DR. Update  Community Development City Council The February 10 meeting includes the contract with the REEZ solar energy provider, VARHA funding, and the Village Green final plat.. The February 24 includes a report on Centennial Committee.. Updated  Community Development Geographic Information Systems (GIS) Finished creating the Questionnaire for the GIS Needs assessment that will go out to all department heads and supervisors prior to face to face meetings. Worked with some local surveyors to help them create data in a format that would be compatible with the city GIS system for digital plat submission. Working on refining the address point and Roads layer. Produced a number of custom maps for departments. Updated  Community Development EECBG Energy Audits and Retrofits Roof retrofit is complete. Lighting retrofit at Public Works is complete. Lighting retrofits underway at City Hall, Police Station, Legion Hall, Airport, Recreation, and Annex. HVAC bid awarded to Maximum Heating and Plumbing and work will begin in February. Updated  Community Development Development Reviews See Current Planning Spreadsheet for updates and status- available on the City website www.mccall.id.us No change  Community Development REEZ Solar Grant New RFQ for the project was released on December 23rd and responses are due January 14th. Two proposals were received. The REEZ Selection Committee met on January 25 to evaluate and rank the proposals. The Aurora Power and Design scored the highest. Staff worked with e selected firm on a contract. Project is expected to start shortly after the award of contract. Updated  Community Development Capacity Building and Outreach Michelle Groenevelt was nominated to serve as a Board Director for Idaho Smart Growth. Debbie Smith attended the 2011 Laserfiche Conference. Nick Nicholas attended the 2011 IDABO 2009ICC Code Conference. Updated  Community Development Awards Michelle was nominated for the 2011 Idaho Accomplished Under 40 Award by the Idaho Business Review. New
