HomeMy Public PortalAbout20130625 finance minutesCITY OF JEFFERSON Finance Committee Meeting Tuesday, June 25, 2013 MINUTES The meeting was called to order by the Finance Committee Chairman, Councilman Shawn Schulte at 7:30 AM. Roll call showed that Councilmen Schulte, Graham, Prather, Scrivner and Bray were in attendance. The minutes of the May 28, 2013 meeting were reviewed and a motion to approve was made by Councilman Graham and seconded by Councilman Bray. The minutes were approved unanimously. The next item on the agenda was a report by Interim Finance Director, Bill Betts, covering the sales tax revenue for June. Mr. Betts discussed the new format of the sales tax report and pointed out that the projections for the next six months were the actual numbers from the previous year. Also, it was noted that the majority of the general ledger accounts with negative balances were cleaned-up. The next item on the agenda was a report by the Interim Finance Director, Bill Betts, covering the Lodging Tax receipts to date. 4/7 of the Lodging tax collected during the timeframe where the rate has been 7% is $1,159,856.12. The average monthly amount collected for the Conference Center Fund is $48,327.34. This is on target for the $9,000,000 bond. The next item on the agenda was RFP 2680 for Audit Services. There were six responses to the RFP. A committee was formed to evaluate all responses. It was comprised of four people from three different departments. It is the recommendation of the committee to award the contract to the best offer which was from Evers and Company, LLC of Jefferson City, Missouri. Mr. Betts informed the committee that the recommendation would not be moved to the full council, if so approved by the committee, until the second meeting in July due to the protest period. A motion to move the committee recommendation to the full council at the second meeting in July was made by Councilman Scrivner and seconded by Councilman Bray. There was no New Business. The next item on the agenda was Old Business. Councilman Schulte mentioned the Economic Development Policy. If anyone had questions they should email City Counselor, Drew Hilpert. It will be discussed at the next Finance Committee meeting. A motion to adjourn was made by Councilman Graham and seconded by Councilman Scrivner. Adjournment took place at 7.50 AM.
