City website update: Website visits in February 2011 totaled 12,431. Site visits are averaging about 12,000 per month over the past year. Over 791,431 visits have been logged since
tracking began in 2003. New website development with stakeholder input and review is proceeding with a professional developer, expected live in March. City staff will gain the ability
to manage much of their own department’s content, often independent of Information Systems staff.

Servers and Infrastructure
A secondary network / server room has been constructed in the Public Works building, with wiring and ventilation in process. The project is in conjunction with office space construction
at Public Works and installation of a new fiber optic cable in spring 2011.
A new storage server for the Police Department is in procurement, funded in large part with a Byrne grant. It will provide room for large projected increases in department storage over
the next several years, as well as hardware redundancy and reliability.

Energy Efficiency
We have submitted a pre-application for an Idaho Power rebate for power savings when computer systems are managed to comply with Energy Star standards. We’re developing a server-enforced
policy that will bring our desktop and laptop computers into compliance. Implementation should net the City both a short-term rebate and long-term reduced power costs.
The new City Hall HVAC system will allow programming and performance monitoring via desktop computer. This should allow fine-tuning for maximum efficiency and better tracking of power
usage and savings.

City Hall copier
Final selection of a new City Hall copier is nearly complete, with contract under legal review, and anticipated for Council approval shortly. It’s expected that the result will be new
capabilities, higher speed, higher reliability and lower monthly cost.
