Committee on Rules & Ordinances, Meeting February 7, 2017
Report: February 14, 2017
The Committee met at 7:30 pm in the Town Council Chambers. Present were Councilors Kenneth Woodland
(chair), Lisa Feltner (vice -chair), Aaron Dushku (secretary) and resident Michelle Cokonougher.
The agenda for the meeting was to continue discussion from the October 24, 2016 meeting on the topics of using
URL web -addresses to link to files on meeting agendas and on proposed new rules for committee referrals.
Including internet URL's in meeting agendas
Councilor Woodland reported back to the committee on his consultation with the town attorney. In the opinion
of the town attorney, the use of URL's or links in agendas is not a violation of the law.
New rules for committee referrals
Councilor Woodland expressed that he did not want to move ahead with the previously -proposed amendment to
the Council Rules section 11. In a brief discussion, the committee agreed that the notion of consultation with
town department heads before asking for a referral is a good practice as a validity check. Nevertheless, no
motion was made for a policy change.
The meeting adjourned at 7:50 pm.
