SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING, AUGUST 22, 1983
Call to A Special Council Meeting was called to order at 7:30 P.M. with Mayor
0rder Hartsfield Presiding.
3 Prayer Mayor Hartsfield offered prayer.
Roll. Call The following Council members were present:
Present: Borgmeyer, Davis, Haake, Halsey, Hequembourg, Kliegel,
Lock, Roark and Viessman.
Absent: Gordon
A quorum was declared present.
Introduction The first item of business was the introduction of bills.

83 Bill 83-90, sponsored by Councilman Hequembourg, entitled:

Barvick • MAYOR AND CITY CLERK TO EXECUTE A CONTRACT WITH WILLIAM M.
BARVICK FOR THE PROVISION OF LEGAL SERVICES, AND AUTHORIZING A
BUDGET ADJUSTMENT.
Lyndel Porterfield stated that a meeting of interested parties would be
held on Tuesday, August 23 at the Christy Building to discuss joint
representation using Mr. Barvick's services, and to determine a method
by which to charge other cities for that service. Mr. Porterfield was
requested to proceed with filing an Application for Extention of Time in
Which to File Prepared Direct Testimony in the UE merger case.Gary
Hamburg stated that the City does not plan to contest the merger in
general, but rather the issue of the municipal rates.
Bill 83-90 was read second and third time by title, placed on final
passage, and passed by the following vote as Ordinance No. 10037:

Tax Levy AN ORDINANCE PROVIDING FOR THE LEVY OF CITY TAXES AND
ESTABLISHING THE RATE OF TAXATION FOR THE CITY OF JEFFERSON,
MISSOURI , FOR THE YEAR 1983.
Bill 83-84 was read third time by title, placed on final passage, and
passed by the following vote as Ordinance No. 10036:
Aye: Borgmeyer, Davis, Iiaake, Halsey, Hequembourg, Kliegel,
Lock, Roark and Viessman.
Nay: None.
INFORMAL The next item of business was the Informal Calendar.

I Councilman Halsey moved to amend the bill's amount from $50,000 to
$25.000, Councilman Davis seconded the motion and it was approved.

$25,000. The motion was seconded by Councilman Davis, and approved.
