REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING, July 1, 1985
A Regular Council Meeting was called to order at 7 : 30 P.M. with Call to -
Mayor Hartsfield presiding. Order
Prayer was offered by Mayor Hartsfield. Prayer
The following Council Members were present : Roll Call
Present : Borgmeyer, Davis, Gordon, Haake, Halsey, Huffman,'
Nelson, Veile, Viessman and Woodman
Absent: None.
A quorum was declared present .
Mayor Hartsfield requested that the first item of business be Resolutions
changed to the introduction of Resolutions :
Resolution RS85-11, Recognition of Coach David Harris for his RS85-11
efforts in coaching the Jefferson City High School track teams Coach David
and their success over the past years; Councilman Gordon moved Harris
that it be approved. The motion was seconded by Councilman
Viessman and approved.
Resolution RS85-12, Recognition of Vonna Hammons for. her RS85-12
outstanding performances in the 800 meter run and her qualifying Vonna Hamons
for two international track meets; Councilman Halsey moved that
it be approved. The motion was seconded by Councilman Viessman
and approved.
Resolution RS85-23, Recognition of Joe Kirby for his oustanding RS85-13
performance in the 3, 200 motor run; Councilman Haake moved that Joe Kirby
it be approved. The motion was seconded by Councilman Nelson and
approved.
Elizabeth Wolfe, 1215 St . Mary's Boulevard, appeared before the St. Mary's ;
Council to report on conditions on St. Mary's Boulevard. She Blvd.
requested the Council consider placing signs warning motorists of
children in the area. Chief Patton reported on the number of
hours the Police Department has devoted to that area in an
attempt to control traffic. Mayor Hartsfield asked that the
Traffic Safety Commission discuss the problem and look at any
alternatives such as redirecting traffic.
The next item of business was the Consent Agenda which included Consent
Council Minutes of June 17 , 1985, and the awarding of the Agenda
following Bids :
669 - Parking Tickets, Transportation, Parking Division
675 - Tractor/Loader Implements , Public Works , Sewer
676 - Carpet Cleaning/Window Washing, P&CE, Public Build.
Councilman Borgmeyer moved the Consent Agenda be approved as
presented. The motion was seconded by Councilman Halsey and
approved.
IMayor Hartsfield stated that the following minutes have been Minutes
received and are on file in the City Clerk's office: Received

The next item of business was the Informal Calendar. Inf.

forth for consideration. Councilman Halsey seconded the motion,
and it was approved.

The next item of business was Unfinished Business. Unfinished
Business
Councilman Borgmeyer expressed his concern about the condition of
the railroad crossing on West McCarty Street. Mayor Hartsfield
will write Mr. May, General Manager for the midwest, concerning
the problems with the crossing.
Councilman Viessman moved to remove Bill 85-40 from the table. 85-40
Councilman Nelson seconded the motion, and it was approved. Contracts for

Councilman Halsey asked that complaints that have been satisfied Corpinints
by the City be mailed back to the Councilman reporting them, to Council
Dennis Roark appeared before the Council and spoke on the traffic St. MY's
problems on St . Mary's Boulevard. Mayor Hartsfield informed Mr. Blvd.
Roark that the Traffic Safety Commission will meet on July 11 and
will make recommendations to the Council on July 15.
