HomeMy Public PortalAbout19860616 .1 ?Y REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING, JUNE 16, 1986 :: A Regular Council Meeting was called to order at 7: 30 P.M. with :_ Mayor Pro Tem Roy Viessman presiding. Prayer was offered by Councilman Tony Barnicle. The following Council Members were present : :` Roll Call Present: Barnicle, Borgmeyer, Davis, Gordon, Haake, Halsey, Nelson, Veile, Viessman and Woodman Absent : Mayor George Hartsfield A quorum was declared present . t, Introduction The first item on the agenda was the introduction of Dave of Dave Johnston, City Administrator. Mr. Viessman expressed the delight Johnston of the Council in the Mayor's appointment of Mr. Johnston and f` stated they were looking forward to working with him. Central Maint. The next item on the agenda was the presentation of the Central ' Review Comn. Maintenance Review Commission. Marty Brose, Director, Department :: Report of Transportation expressed his sincere thanks to those who were a part of the Commission, (Larry Bohannan, Ron Thompson, Rudy Edwards, Bill Zumwalt , Councilman Haake, Councilman Borgmeyer and Marty Brose) for their time and efforts contributed to the report. He then asked if the Council had any questions on the material that had been distributed to them. Councilman Haake moved that the report be adopted and the necessary steps be taken to implement the recommendations as policy. Motion was seconded by Councilman Borgmeyer and approved. Fire Next, Fireman Lonnie Brandt spoke to the Council regarding the Presentation reclassification plan and salary survey. Mr. Brandt asked the Council to review the information that he had distributed before the mooting and to delay making any decision on these two bills until a further study regarding the figures for the various fire , departments could be made . Consent The next item was the consent agenda which included Council Agenda Minutes of 6/2/86 and the awarding of the following bids: 794 - Appraisal Services , Finance 801 -- Meter Repair Parts , Transportation 802 - Ductile Iron Pipe, Public Works 806 - Guardrail Project , Public Works Councilman Haake moved acceptance of the Consent Agenda, motion was seconded by Councilman Woodman and approved. Minutes Mayor Pro Tem Viessman stated that the following minutes were Ireceived and on file in the City Clerk's office: Traffic Safety Commission 6/5/86. Councilman Borgmeyer and -9 moved approval of the resolutions . Motion was seconded by Councilman Nelson and approved. The Councilmen requested that for further packets of information, Packet the item not be copied front and back and that ordinances Makeup containing more than one page be stapled together. Councilman Halsey wished to express his thanks to Councilman Viessman Viessman for the luncheon that he provided for the city employees Luncheon on Monday, June 16, 1986. Councilman Halsey also suggested that 1 Mr. Johnston might want to make it a high priority to establish practices that lets the employees know how much they are appreciated, e.g. employee of the month. Dave Johnston, City Administrator, informed the Council that the Special Mayor had requested a Special Council Meeting for Monday, June Council 23, 1986, at 7:00 p.m. This meeting would be to discuss bill 86- Meeting 48 and 86-49; a report from the Insurance Committee; and distribute the names of the three final candidates for Police MM Chief. 4 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING, JUNE 16, 1986 • ,. , � Adjournmon There being no futher business, Councilman Gordon moved the meeting be adjourned.
