Order prayer ( Prayer was offered by Councilman Halsey. a4 Roll Call The following Council Members were present : Present : Borgmeyer, Davis , Gordon, Haake, Halsey, Huffman, Nelson, Veile, Viessman and Woodman. Absent: None. A quorum was declared present. r,. Bus Station Councilman Davis reported on his committee 's negotiations in locating a permanent bus station in the City. He asked Mr. Brose to report on his activities . Mr. Brose stated that the location under consideration is on East High Street between a sporting goods store and a Chinese restaurant . Discussion from the Council included objections to bus traffic in this area of town, aesthetics and parking problems . Mr. F. Joe DeLong, III was present to speak in opposition to the proposed High Street location. After further discussion, Councilman Borgmeyer moved that the request for that location be denied, motion seconded by Councilman Halsey, and approved. Consent The next item of business was the Consent Agenda, which included Council Minutes of May 6, 1985, the Administrator's Report , Finance Report , and awarding of the following bids : 627 - Roof Mounted Air Conditioning Units , DOT, Transit Div. 633 -- Phase T1 Curb f. Gutter, Public Works 644 - Salo of Surplus , Channel Post. & 1984. Wrecked Chevrolet Impala, Public Works & Police DNA . 651 -- Overlay Project., Public Works 652 - High Sheet. Viaduct. , Public Works Councilman Gordon moved that the Consent Agenda be approved at; presented, motion was seconded by Councilman Davis , and approved. Minutes Mayor Hartsfield announced that the following minutes have been Received received and are on file in the City Clerk's Office : Public Works and Planning Committee, 5-6-85 ; Parking & Traffic Commission, 5-9-85; Charter Expenditure Report Appointments Mayor Hartsfield presented the following appointments to the Council for confirmation: Martha Ann Claiborne, reappointment to the Animal Control Advisory Board; James Tatum, 1st Alternate reappointment to the Board of Adjustment; Jim McIntosh, reppointment, Reginald Turnbull, appointment, and Darrell Dunafon, appointment to the Park Board; Jane Purcell, reappointment, Rev. Harvell Sanders, reappointment, and Douglas Viehland, appointment to the Library Board; Dave Lankford, reappointment, and Mark Comley, appointment to the Planning & Zoning Commission. Councilman Haake Chairman of moved that Councilman Halsey be elected, motion was seconded by Finance Councilman Viessman, and approved unanimously. Committee i Y.i: ° Mayor Hartsfield asked for suggestions regarding a Council Council > -, retreat and/or work session. Councilman Borgmeyer suggested that Work ,., '_ '' during the summer, a dinner/work session on a weekday evening '', "�"= z';-;. 9 Y 9 Session � f°y^{xq would be more convenient than a weekend retreat . The consensus of the Council Members was that Mr. Bor.gmeyer' s suggestion w:�uld be fxt ;A�tp.'fr ry`a. easier for them to work into their schedules . Mayor Hartsfield . stated that the City Clerk will be contacting them to set a date. .f: `lr `ta ``- Councilman Gordon reported that the Public Works Projects Survey ` " °� Public Works Committee has decided to "shelve" the survey for the time being Survey , until further information can be accumulated during the upcoming tour of city facilities . r Mr. Jack Pletz was present and at this time explained the bond }tote]./ proposals in connection with the Housing Authority' s hotel con- Convcntiot vent ion center plans . Center Mayor Hartsfield stated that , if no Council Members objected, he wished to take up resolutions at this time so that the Housing Authority representatives present would not have to wait . y,' . Resolution RS85-5, Special Business District Revenue Bonds ; Allen Resolutions Garner slated that the Council needs to appoint a bond counsel before passage of the resolution, and he recommended Thompson f. Councilman Viessman moved that RS85-5 be approved, motion was seconded by Councilman Nelson, and approved. Resolution RS85-6, Parking Garage Bonds ; Councilman Davis moved Parking that it be approved, motion was seconded by Councilman Nelson, image Bonds and approved. The next item of business was the introduction of bills .
