Gardner stated that. while twelve had , f p panned the written exam, only the nix names listed had passed both the written and oral exam. . Dr. Parks stated they have narrowed the candidates for Police Chief down to eight , and will begin the interview process with these eight, if the Council so chooses . The Council requested that the Board begin the interview process and send them a list with one to three names of possible candidates . The Police Personnel Board asked the Council for some guidelines toward establishing a standard operating procedure. The Mayor asked that Stephen Nelson, Councilman; Roy Viessman, Councilman; and Allen Garner, City Counselor, work with two members of the Police Personnel Board to establish these guidelines . Dr. Parks stated that there were twelve persons who qualified to take the examination for Communications Operator. The Board is in the process of interviewing these candidates and should be able to have a recommendation to the Council by Monday, April 21, 1986. 4 µ 23 SPECIAL COUNCIL MEETING, APRIL 14 , 1986 Discuss , The next item of business was a discussion concerning the revenue Sales Ta . needs of the City. There was some discussion on the various options open to the city, but the general concensus of the Council was that they were favorable to a sales tax with a Sunset provision as opposed to property tax, or each individual area trying to raise their own revenue. The Council asked that the Department Heads meet and discuss I capital needs and improvements and give this information to them at the Monday, April 21, 1986, Council meeting. Cable TV The next item of business was a report by Steve Veile, Committee Councilman, on the Cable T.V. Committee meeting. Councilman Veile; Tom Benton, Director of Planning and Code; and the City Counselor met and discussed a timetable for proceeding with the franchise renewal. There will be an organizational meeting on Monday, April 28, 1986, at 7:30 p.m. Adjourn Councilman Nelson moved that the Council adjourn.
