HomeMy Public PortalAbout19840103 93 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING, January 3 , 1984 Call to The Regular Council Meeting was called to order at 7 : 30 P.M. with Mayor Hartsfield presiding. Order Prayer Prayer was offered by Mayor Hartsfield iou Call The following Council Members were present : Present: Borgmeyer, Davis, Gordon, Haake, Halsey, Hequembourg, Lock, Roark and Viessman. Absent: Kliegel. A quorum was declared present. Count' ' Club Mr. Neil Broderick was present to speak on behalf of General Drive Growth Companies concerning the Country Club traffic control ordinance which was passed at the December 19 meeting. He stated that a large fashion department store which is considering Jefferson City as a possible location has informed him the passage of the ordinance may cause them to reconsider. Councilman Gordon moved that Mayor Hartsfield contact the department store administration offices to obtain their specific reactions to the ordinance, the motion was seconded by Councilman Halsey and approved by voice vote. Councilman Hequembourg asked if General Growth Companies , who wish to recommend another traffic survey, would consider financing that survey. • Mr. Jack Pletz was also present to urge the Council to maintain the decision made at the December 19 meeting concerning Country Club Drive. Consent The next item of business was the Consent Agenda which consisted of Council Minutes of 12-19-83 . Councilman Hequembourg moved that Merida the Consent Agenda be approved an presented, motion was seconded by Councilman Viesuman, and approved. Nay: None. 1 REGULAR COUNCIL MEETING Januar 3 1984 Bill 83-179, sponsored by Councilman Viessman, entitled: 83-179 AN ORDINANCE OF THE CITY OF JEFFERSON, MISSOURI , VACATING AND vacate DISCONTINUING A PORTION OF BERYL STREET FROM CAROL DRIVE TO MAJOR k` Beryl St. DRIVE Councilman Viessman requested that Bill 83-179 be placed on the Informal Calendar. Bid 435 Councilman Viessman moved that the Council reconsider Bid 435 pertaining to truck washers for the Fire Department, the motion was seconded by Councilman Gordon, and failed by show-of-hand vote. Resort Councilman Roark stated that Resort Air. requested to rent office Rental at space at the airport, and moved that they be allowed to move into that office on "good faith" until Marty Brose can draw up the Airport ordinance and contract, the motion was seconded by Councilman Hequembourg, and approved. Work Session/ Councilman Halsey distributed a list of items which he would like Councilman discussed at the upcoming Work Sessions . The items included Halsey ordinances , Council Meetings , boards and commissions and their members or lack thereof, etc. • TCI Councilman Gordon asked that a letter be written to TCI concerning recurring cable tv complaints on Belmont . Gary Hamburg was instructed to write the letter. Park Councilman Davis asked that Lyndel Porterfield issue an opinion tru as to the legality or propriety of all the recently appointed terms to the Park Board expiring at the same time. Adjournment There being no further business , Councilman t3orgmeyer moved that the meeting be adjourned, the motion was seconded by Councilman Davis , and approved.
