HomeMy Public PortalAboutARC 2021-11-18iii %j Architectural Review Committee Meeting Held on November 18, 2021 at 5:00 p.m. 'CC "-''h" Skaket Room in person & Remote by Zoom Committee Members present in peson: Bernadette Macleod, Stephen Salley, Carol Marsh, and Nora Johnsmeyer Committee Member present by Zoom, Nancy Jorgensen Committee Members Absent: Page McMahan, and Debra Oakes Recording Secretary Absent: Melanie Taylor Chairperson Bernadette Macleod called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m. Orleans Coin- o- Matic, aka Orleans Laundry, 181 Rte. 6A, presented by David Currier (via Zoom) for 2 Replacement Signs. 1 Free Standing Sign at entrance from street will be 4'x8', mounted vertical. Sign will have vinyl lettering and will be double- sided. Questioned about setback. Waiver was granted as per bylaw. Max height to top of structure can be 12'. Existing sign is T -8'. Same led lighting as on Bowling Alley sign will be used. 2nd sign will be mounted on roof Sign will be 2'x16'. Roof Sign will not have lighting. Stephen Salley made a motion approve with the following modifications: 1. Free Standing Sign at entrance from street will have 6x6 supports (posts) with 1/4" white facings wrapped in Azec. 2. Landscaping plantings to be installed at base of Free Standing Sign 3. Top most pmt of structure (including posts and post caps) will be no more than 12' above ground A base- current grade. 4. Proposed lighting on sign will be same as already approved for the Bowling Alley and if it isn't applicant will come back before committee with picture of proposed lighting. Nora Johnsmeyer seconded the motion and motion was approved with modifications on a vote 5 -0 -0. Town of Orleans, 10 Old Colony Way (Depot Square) presented by Ron Collins a Preliminary Review of an application to renovate and expand existing Information Kiosk that is rotting. One additional panel will be added to provide for more space for advertising as was desired by the Chamber of Commerce. The Kiosk will have two center panels and angle panels on each end. Kiosk will have lighting in ceiling for people on Bike path in the evening. Two elevation drawings were submitted. Committee liked the drawings but agreed that dimensions and notes as to materials to be used etc were needed. Colors, dimensions, and materials to be used will be required so this was just a Preliminary Review and no vote was taken. Applicant will come back and present a Final Review of project before the Committee. Town of Orleans, 44 Main St., (Orleans Community Building "Old Fire House "), presented by Alan McClennan, a Preliminary Review of interior renovations including new public toilet rooms, new kitchenette, new energy - efficient mechanical and electrical systems, and water - conserving plumbing systems. Exterior renovations including new insulation and cedar shingles, windows, roofing, restoration of fire truck bays with operable storefront windows, Theresa's Way fapade improvements, and accessible entrances. Concept is to create a 1925 "Firehouse Look" while providing up to date restrooms and accessible community space. Structure is of historical interest- Orleans Historic Commission plays a role. Questions of lighting and solar panels were raised. As this was a Preliminary Review no vote was taken. Applicant will return in February with more drawings before the Committee. OLD /NEW BUSINESS Minutes The Minutes of ARC Meeting October 14, 2021 were approved on a motion made by Nora Johnsmeyer and was seconded by Carol Marsh. The Minutes were approved on a vote 5 -0 -0. Nancy Jorgensen questioned the format of the Minutes whether comments made by committee have to be identified as to the speakers name as well as their comments. Members will look to see how other committees format their minutes for comparison. Adjourn Marsh made a motion to adjourn meeting and was seconded by Macleod.
