COMMISSION ORAL COMMUNICATIONS ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn to the regularly scheduled meeting on September 18, 1996 at 5:00 p m in the City Hall Council Chambers, 11330 Bullis Road, City of Lynwood, CA 90262 wrres \sf11294 a 0 0 CITY OF LYNWOOD COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE JULY 17, 1996 MEETING The Community Affairs Commission meeting of July 17, 1996 was called to order by Chairperson David Litsinger at 5 00 p.m. The pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Bette Espeseth Roll Call of Commissioners present Chairperson Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner David Litsinger Bette Espeseth Yolanda Bays Ann Fields Lucille Walker - absent Barbara Newton Lorna Hawkins - absent Staff present: Mr. Ralph Davis Mr. Davis certified the posting of the agenda INFORMATION ITEMS Mr. Ralph Davis reported on the City Council meeting which was held on July 16, 1996. The meeting ran from 7 30 p.m. to 12:30 a m. There were a public hearings on items 12 and 13 on the agenda, these two items deal with the Street Lighting Assessment District and the Landscaping Assessment District. These two Assessment Districts help maintain the City's lights, maintain the streets, provide tree trimming and maintain the parks. The residents of Lynwood spoke against a raise of the Assessment Districts. The City Council decided against the increase Mr Davis reported that the Block Watch Program is participating in City events in order to publicize their Program more They will have a booth at the July 20, 1996 event. Mr. Davis stated that U S. West and Continental Cable are looking to merge. Later the City plans to also negotiate it's franchise renewal agreement. SCHEDULED MATTERS On Saturday, July 20, 1996 the of Lynwood will be celebrating it's 75th Anniversary in front of City Hall. There will be a candle run, time capsule burial and presentation of awards The program is scheduled to begin at 9 00 m and will end at approximately 9:00 p.m. There will be live entertainment, birthday cake and hot dogs. l - COMMUNITY AFFAIRS c:tSMMISSION MINUTES OF THE JULY 17, 1996 MEETING PAGE 2 The Senior Citizens Program will be hosting an Open House /Indoor Luncheon in honor of the City of Lynwood's 75th Anniversary. The event will be held at Bateman Hall from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m PUBLIC ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None COMMISSION ORALS Commissioner Fields reported that Commissioner Lucille Walker sustained a fall while attending church Commissioner Fields asked for all the Commissioners to call her and ask how she is doing. Commissioner Newton stated that her grandson enjoys playing sports and he was also part of the T -Ball All Star Team. Commissioner Espeseth attended the July 4th /Unity Festival and stated that the stage was facing the sun and that she was not able to see much of the entertainment on stage. Chairperson Litsinger reported that there are too many semi trucks parked on Wright Road. It is extremely difficult to see any oncoming traffic on this street because the semi trucks block the view The meeting was adjourned at 6:02 p.m. by Chairperson David Litsinger. The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Wednesday, August 21, 1996 at 5 00 p m
