COMMISSION ORAL COMMUNICATIONS ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn to the regularly scheduled meeting on February 21, 1996 at 5:00 p.m in the City Hall Council Chambers, 11330 Bullis Road, City of Lynwood, CA 90262. comsW11293 a • • CITY OF LYNWOOD COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 20, 1995 MEETING The Community Affairs Commission meeting of December 20, 1995 was called to order by Chairperson David Litsinger at 5:00 p m. The pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Bette Espeseth Roll Call of Commissioners present Chairperson Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner David Litsinger Bette Espeseth Yolanda Bays Ann Fields Lucille Walker Barbara Newton Lorna Hawkins absent (excused) Staff present: Mr Ralph Davis Mr Davis certified the posting of the agenda Commissioner Espeseth motioned to approve the minutes of the November 15, 1995 meeting Commissioner Walker seconded the motion. The Commission agrees and the minutes were so ordered. INFORMATION ITEMS Mr. Ralph Davis reported that the Recreation and Community Services Department is currently accepting registration for the Youth Basketball Program. He also reported that the Drill Team participated in the Lynwood Cane Lane Christmas Parade wearing their new uniforms. The Aqua Knights held their annual Awards Banquet. It was enjoyed by everyone in attendance. Mr Davis reported that Measure L was not approved by voters The purpose of Measure L was to keep the option open of gaming for the City opposed to the state moratorium Mr. Davis stated that Commissioners Hawkins, Bays, Walker, Fields and Chairperson Litsinger were all reappointed to the Commission. Mr. Davis reported that the Block Watch will be reviewing their guidelines Many of the Block watch Captains are questioning whether or not Block Watch Captains who usually do not participate or attend meetins should they be allowed to vote or participate in special programs The Block Watch Captains held their OHH Christmas Spirit Program The Awards Program will be held December 20, 1995 at the Community Transit Center at 6:30 p m ! 0 SCHEDULED MATTERS The Community Services Day Program was held on December 16, 1995. Many people showed up early and were very spirited. All applicants received what they requested There were very little complaints. Many people did not stay for the entertainment due to the cold weather. The program was successful PUBLIC ORAL COMMUNICATIONS None COMMISSION ORALS Commissioner Fields handed out an information pack from Compton College regarding all current programs She also reported that in order for AARP to start a chapter in Lynwood there has to be at least twenty -five (25) people registered. Commissioner Espeseth reported that the Salvation Army will be handing out bags of groceries for those families in need. Chairperson Litsinger reported that the Mathathon Competition will be held on January 25, 1996. This year the first and second graders will start off the competition , Commissioner Newton asked the Commissioners for assistance in gathering any new or old items that they no longer want or need for Commissioner Bays who is collecting goods for families in need. She also thanked Mr. Ralph Davis for all the support and help he has given to the Community Affairs Commission The meeting was adjourned at 5 45 p m until the next regularly scheduled meeting on December 20, 1995
