Commission Minutes
For June 5, 1996
The City of Lynwood Youth Commission met in session at 6 15 p.m at
the Lynwood Community Transit Center, located at 3798 Martin Luther
King, Jr. Boulevard, Lynwood
Chairperson Zavala presided.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Zavala, Acosta, Nava, McZeal, Mercado, Devin Hampton
answered roll call
Commissioner Espinoza, Brown, M. Hardin, G. Hardin, David Hampton
and Wroten did not answer roll call.
CERTIFICATION OF THE POSTING OF THE AGENDA
Mark Flores certified the posting of the agenda.
APPROVAL OF THE PAST MINUTES
Approval of Minutes of the May 1, 1996 meeting were not approved
due lack of a quorum
PROGRAM REPORTS
Recreation and Community Services
Dorothy Siddell reported on upcoming City events including
Juneteenth and preparations for Lynwood's 75th anniversary. Also,
the city's Daycamp, Summer Basketball and softball programs were
discussed
Youth Council /Teen Center
GENERAL REPORTS
Summer Job Fair -Event time and organization was assigned and
finalized. Commissioners were responsible for getting partipant
presentors by Friday
NEW PROGRAM IDEAS
The Youth Commission was to present a placque to the 1996 Hosler
Valedictorian, Commissioner Acosta was assigned to present

Commissioner Hardin apologized for being late
Commissioner Nava welcomed new Commissioner
Commissioner McZeal and Zavala also welcomed new Commissioner

ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner Acosta moved that the meeting be adjourned to the next
regularly scheduled Youth Commission Meeting and seconded by
Commissioner Mercado. All in favor. Meeting adjourned at 6:55 p m.

APPROVAL OF THE PAST MINUTES
Approval of Minutes of the April 3, 1996 meeting was moved to be
approved by Commissioner Acosta and seconded by Commissioner
Hampton.
PROGRAM REPORTS
Recreation and Community Services
Dorothy Siddell reported on upcoming City events including
Juneteenth and preparations for Lynwood's 75th anniversary
Youth Council /Teen Center
It was reported that the Teen Center was scheduled to begin
reconstruction activities including moving its programming to
different sites. There will not continue be any Teen Center program
activity report until completion of construction. There will be
construction development reports as necessary
GENERAL REPORTS
Five City Torch Relay- Commissioner Acosta reported on her
participation in the Olympic relay on April 27, 1996
Summer Job Fair -Event time and organization was assigned and
discussed.

Consideration of a Youth Commission sponsored Youth Summer Job Fair
was to be discussed at the next regularly scheduled.

There were no new public orals
STAFF ORALS
Staff requested that Commissioners submit an updated address and
telephone list for Department records
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner G. Hardin moved that the meeting be adjourned to the
next regularly scheduled Youth Commission Meeting and seconded by
Commissioner Acosta. All in favor Meeting adjourned at 6:55 p.m
