Commission Minutes
For March 6, 1996

The City of Lynwood Youth Commission met in a special session at
6:40 p.m. at the Lynwood Community Transit Center, located at 3798
Martin Luther King, Jr Boulevard, Lynwood.
Chairperson Zavala presided.
ROLL CALL
Commissioners Zavala, Sandoval, Acosta, Espinoza, McZeal, G.
Hardin, Nava and Hampton answered roll call
Commissioners Gregory, Wroten did not answer roll call
CERTIFICATION OF THE POSTING OF THE AGENDA
Jim Given, Project Manager certified the posting of the agenda.
APPROVAL OF THE PAST MINUTES
Approval of Minutes of the February 7, 1996 and January 10, 1996
meetings were moved to be approved by Commissioner Acosta and
second by Commissioner M Hardin.
PROGRAM REPORTS
Recreation and Community Services
Jim Given reported that the Department had just successfully staged
a community wide baseball clinic with sign -ups being taken through
March. Lynwood sponsored, Black History Month Activities were also
reported on with the City -wide track meet to be held on April 13,
1996
Youth Council /Teen Center
It was reported that the Teen Center was scheduled to begin
reconstruction activities including moving its programming to
different sites. Construction will continue for 6 -12 months.
GENERAL REPORTS
Cable Show Training- the schedule for commencement of the cable
class has been postponed until the end of March. Commission
participation was to be arranged by Mr Flores
Torch Relay- A car wash fundraiser was to be scheduled
NEW PROGRAM IDEAS
The City of Lynwood will be hosting its annual Unity Dinner on
March 15, 1996.

Sonya, a relative of Commissioner Hardin expressed her good
impression of the Youth Commission meeting she observed
STAFF ORALS
There were no staff orals.
COMMISSION ORALS
Commissioner Sandoval thanked Commissioner Acosta for standing in
in his absence.
Commissioner Zavala apologized for being late to the meeting
ADJOURNMENT
Commissioner McZeal moved that the meeting be adjourned to the next
regularly scheduled Youth Commission Meeting and seconded by
Commissioner Acosta. All in favor Meeting adjourned at 7:30 p m.
