ADJOURNMENT 0 9 The regular meeting of the Women's Commission of the City of Lynwood California was held on Tuesday June 11, 1996 at 3 p m., in the Conference room of the Lynwood City Hall. The Agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act. Members in attendance Verna Culp Ethel Pacheco Della Mazziotti Also present were: Councilman Louis Heine Barbara Anthony, friend of the LWC Carol de Jesus, staff liaison Sandra Morales, minute clerk I. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS A. Meeting was called to order by Chair Mary Sue Lewis. Minutes of previous meeting were approved with necessary corrections. II. DISCUSSION ITEMS A. Senior Citizen Project At the last LWC meeting, held on May 14, 1996 an event committee was formed with Mayor Pro -Tern Heine and Commissioner Dr Jackson co- chairing the committee and Barbara Anthony, friend of the commission assisting in the coordination of the event. The commission decided to hold a Senior Citizen Pageant for its project. a. A report was given by Barbara Anthony, friend of the commission. She mentioned that the committee met and the following suggestions for the event were discussed at that meeting: Theme "Younger Than Spring Time" Date November 2 or 3, 1996 Where hotel Time. 1 pm to 4 pm Clothes to be Modeled: Evening gowns 25 contestants Ages 62 and up Areas of competition: 1) Evening gowns, 2) Poise and Personality, 3) Interview photographer Star /Bill Thomas Decorations /Food: Elizabeth Dixon Food: refreshments, punch, coffee, finger foods (Luncheon Style) Band: band of Markus Law Master of Ceremony Pat Harvey Flyer to read: Female, Lynwood Resident, must be able to participate in all areas of competition, all nationalities are encouraged to participate, 62 years old and over Souvenir brochure: all the senior citizens participating should have their pictures placed in the brochure Prize. Winners receive plaque or trophy Mayor Pro Tern Heine added that since the commission is trying to raise money at this event, renting a hotel would be too expensive. Commissioner Verna Culp added that the commission should use Bateman Hall. Sandra the minute clerk called Bateman Hail for reservations. November 2nd /3rd were already taken. The commission decided that the event should take place during the week. Vice -Chair Della Mazziotti suggested November 6th /7th. The minute clerk called Bateman Hall for availability and the auditorium was available for those dates. The commission agreed to hold the event on Thursday November 7th, 1996 Barbara Anthony Friend of the commission mentioned that the committee will have a special meeting on Thursday June 13, 1996, at 1 p.m. Mayor Pro Tem suggested that the commission should invite the city's senior citizen coordinator, Phillis Cooper to attend the special meeting and help coordinate this event. Barbara Anthony added that all commissioners were invited to attend the special meeting for the committee to finalize all arrangements. There being no further business the commission adjourned at 4 10 p.m.
