HomeMy Public PortalAbout016-2011 - Metro - Memorandum of Intent to PurMEMORANDUM OF INTENT TO PURCHASE PROPERTY This Agreement is between the City of Richmond (hereinafter "City"), by Mayor Sally Hutton and the Board of Public Works and Safety, and Wayne County ("hereinafter "County"), by Doug Williamson. WHEREAS, The City of Richmond is applying for two million dollar ($2,000,000) Neighborhood Stabilization Grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority; WHEREAS, The City of Richmond is interested in properties the Wayne County Commissioners will be disposing of through the Commissioners Sale process; WHEREAS, The Neighborhood Stabilization Grant from the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority requires that certain thresholds be met; WHEREAS, The City has to demonstrate that it has commitments from the County to acquire properties in order to obligate grant funds; WHEREAS, The City is requesting that the County transfer certain properties within the project area to the City after the redemption period ends if the grant is awarded. WHEREAS, The notice of grant award or denial will received by the City of Richmond by March 1, 2011. Now, therefore, the parties agree as follows: 1. The County will transfer the following properties to the City in exchange for the fees the County has occurred if they are still available after the redemption period ends: a) 123 S IOth Street b) 215 S IOth Street c) 219 S IOth Street d) 225 S IOth Street e) 234 S 11th Street f) 300 S 11th Street g) 312 S 11th Street h) 324 S 11th Street i) 328 S 11th Street 2. The City will use the properties to build new structures on vacant lots and rehab existing structures for resale to income qualified individuals per the requirements of the Neighborhood Stabilization Grant.
