HomeMy Public PortalAboutGCAC Minutes June 10, 2015McCall Golf Advisory Meeting for June 10, 2015 Attendees: Eric McCormick, Judy VanKoman, Allan Morrison, Betty Bolin, Paul Stover, Ken Stearns (sub for Bill Logsdon) Minutes for the May 13, 2015, meeting were approved. Eric’s Report: The grounds’ crew is now fully staffed. They are in the process of spraying the fairways for weeds. Irrigation issues seem to be under control. Replacement of the stairs from the patio leading toward the practice green is under way and should be completed shortly. Eric received another clubhouse paint bid from a Boise firm for $10,000. New/different sand is being purchased from a Boise company. Allan’s Report: Revenue for May is up from last year. Season pass sales are also up. Trail pass sales are up. June revenue for the first 9 days is up. The Best Ball Tournament field is full at 288 players. Three marshals will each be working about 20 hours per week starting each day at 11:00 AM. Marshaling before 11:00 will be handled by the pro-staff. The restaurant presently has 4 cooks but will soon be down to three. A replacement is being sought. New Business: Roger presented a request from the Men’s Association. They are asking for our committee to recommend to the city that the Club Championship for 2015 by allowed to start at 12:30 PM. on both Sat. and Sun. They also want the green fees waved for anyone with a 2:00 PM. pass. Discussion ensued. Allan was concerned about a substantial loss of revenue. Allan suggested a shotgun start both days. Betty moved that the committee support a 1:00 PM. shotgun start for both Sat. and Sun. The motion passed. Roger also asked that the GCAC request that the McCall City Council change the purpose of the approved lifetime pass. Since the Lottery Commission does not consider the rebuilding of a green to be a legal reason to have a raffle, Roger suggests that the raffle money be used to paint the clubhouse. Discussion ensued. Judy moved that we support using the raffle money to paint the outside of the clubhouse. The motion passed. Eric will present the change to the City Council. Allan presented the McCall Golf Course Rules and Regulations. It was pointed out that rule 7 needs to have the word “feet” inserted so that it reads “Golf carts must use the 90 degree rule and keep at least 50 feet from greens”. Allan pointed out that since the Idaho Liquor Law prohibits individuals from bringing liquor onto a golf course, a rule needs to be added dealing with this issue. Roger proposed moving all future meetings to a 4:00 PM. start time. The motion passed. The meeting was adjourned. The next scheduled meeting is July 8. The committee was scheduled to discuss the McCall Golf Club Survey. However, the committee was very pleased and encouraged with the improvements already implemented by Allan regarding the restaurant and the issue of marshaling. It was decided to postpone any discussion until after next year’s survey. We are convinced that Allan’s new approaches will result in more positive feedback. The meeting was adjourned. The next scheduled meeting is June 10. Special note to Bill Logsdon … sorry you missed the open bar!
