HomeMy Public PortalAboutMinutes - GAC - 04-08-15Golf Advisory Meeting Minutes for April 8, 2015 Attendees: Roger Snodgrass, Eric McCormick, Bill Logsdon, Terry Lewis, Judy VanKoman, Allan Morrison, Paul Stover Eric led us from the clubhouse to the proposed Verizon tower site. He showed the committee where the tower and building would be located. We saw the outlined area for the fence, where the turnaround might be located, and two proposed entry ways for building and servicing the tower. Eric said that many of the smaller trees inside the proposed site could be moved onto the course. On the return trip to the clubhouse, Eric pointed out several trees that need to be removed due to bug and bird damage. The tree committee will be out to evaluate them. Discussion regarding the tower resumed once we got back to the club -house. The committee felt that there were still many questions that need to be addressed before a yes/no recommendation vote can be sent to the city. A motion passed to table the vote until after Verizon holds a neighborhood meeting on April 21. Minutes for the March GCAC meeting were approved. Allan gave a recap of his winter in California. He said he had picked up some good ideas regarding management, training, and marshaling that he hoped to use. He is in the process of hiring cooks and staff for the restaurant. He was positive about having a strong kitchen staff. Pro-shop hiring is also taking place. Tournament entries are coming in. BSU/Idaho competition is still up in the air for this year. Eric gave his report. Overall, the course is in great shape. All green covers on A/B have been removed. He plans to repunch Cedar greens 1,2,3,and 9 for thatch control. They are working on sodding the new ladies’ tees. Eric is shooting for a May 1 opening for A/B. Restaurant hood has been replaced. More marketing is still a possibility. Eric hopes to have the outside of the clubhouse painted by Memorial weekend. Bids are being taken to replace the outside steps from the restaurant area. The steps will be like those leading to the proshop. No report from the ladies’ association. Roger reported that the raffle is on hold. Committee voted to hold a special meeting on April 22. It is hoped that Verizon will answer enough questions and give enough insight that the committee can vote on the tower. Survey results were tabled until May’s regular meeting. Meeting was adjourned.
