HomeMy Public PortalAbout2 -Minutes - GAC -2015.05.13McCall Golf Advisory Meeting for May 13, 2015 Attendees: Eric McCormick, Judy VanKoman, Allan Morrison, Terry Lewis, JJ Johnson, Paul Stover; Gene Drabinski was also in attendance. Minutes for the April 22, 2015, meeting were approved. Old business: Gene informed the group after the GCAC committees vote and the P & Z vote staff decided to pull Verizon’s request to erect a cell tower on the golf course and not send it on to the City Council. He said that if Verizon is serious, the company needs to provide the community with better information in the future if they want to pursue the tower. Allan’s report: With the early opening, green fees are well ahead of last year. Season passes are selling at a good clip, and there has been little negative feedback about the rise in fees. Several small tournaments have been added to the schedule. One in July will be in remembrance of Jason Hawkins. Proceeds will go to a local charity. There will be a couple others in August. Jazz‐on‐the‐green will be held August 15. The venue will feature new groups. Allan is looking for a volunteer work force to help with the event. Two new staff members have started working in the pro‐shop, and two more should start next week. Two additional marshals have been lined up. With three marshals, someone should be working most of the time when the course is open. Four cooks have lined up for the restaurant. The kitchen is well staffed, but Allan would still like to hire additional servers. Eric’s Report: Randy’s surgery means that they are down a mechanic. The fairways are being sprayed and fertilized. Cedar will be open by the weekend. Applications for workers are still being accepted. Ladies’ tees are open. The new stairs between the restaurant area and the practice green will be widened after Memorial Day. The bid to repaint the clubhouse was $19,000, so Eric is looking into getting additional bids. The project may have to be moved to next year. New Business: Eric presented the 2015 budget. He gave the group a quick overview and answered questions. He stated that equipment repairs are in good shape. A new sprayer is needed and included in the budget. Eric spent extra time going over the capital expense area of the budget. There are some large expenditures in that area, and he explained why they are there and what the money will be used for. Eric plans to include $10,000 in the 2016 budget for the remodel of Aspen’s #1 green. He plans to start work on that project in October. The committee was scheduled to discuss the McCall Golf Club Survey. However, the committee was very pleased and encouraged with the improvements already implemented by Allan regarding the restaurant and the issue of marshaling. It was decided to postpone any discussion until after next year’s survey. We are convinced that Allan’s new approaches will result in more positive feedback. The meeting was adjourned. The next scheduled meeting is June 10.
