McCall Golf Course Advisory Committee
June 8th, 2011 Minutes
Attendees: Allan Morrison, Billy Romero, James Johnson, Bob Gile,
Ron Noble, Tim Swanson, Robyn Grove and Ben Reeder.
Superintendant’s Report – Billy
Eric was out of town so Billy provided us with the superintendants report.
We discussed the bids for the pro shop stairs project. I have attached a diagram
of one of the drawings. We were still waiting for another bid to come in. There
was discussion on replacing the existing stairs or moving forward with the idea to
move the stairs. The committee agreed that if we intend to spend any money on
fixing and replacing the stairs then we should put them in a place where we won’t
have to deal with fixing or replacing them every few years. The snow load on the
east side is too much for them. The committee was in agreement that they
should be moved to the north side.
Staffing – 4 full time, 9 full time seasonal and 3 part time seasonal make up this
year’s staff. The crew is down 2 men from last year.
Equipment – Good working order, no issues with equipment thus far.
Greens – Greens are in great shape and we have decided to postpone the
aeration until the 20th. With the best ball tournament coming up, we didn’t feel
there would be enough time for them to fully recover. This month’s weather has
made it difficult to maintain schedule.

Vole Damage – Course was hit hard but the team is working on it. They have an
attachment behind a tractor that thatch’s or fluffs up all the dead grass and they
have already done this 3 or 4 times.
Driving Range – Going to be starting with the irrigation for the new trees, the
piping is all in.
Drain on Aspen # 7 – We put in drainage on the lower part of the fairway where
the grow tarp is still covering the grass. The problem was a homeowner that
borders the hole had built a spillway, raising the water table and not allowing the
course to drain.
Swallow Houses – Have all been repaired and painted.
Crack Seal – We used the public works crack sealer to seal the cracks on A&B, and
are in the process of getting bids for the seal coat.
Marketing – The McCall Golf Course has now started advertising in the Boise
Airport.
Cart Path Only – Team is doing the best job they can considering all the weather
that they have had to deal with. The course is still cart path only. We need the
men’s and women’s association to set an example on do the right thing by
obeying the rules out on the course.

Professional’s Report – Allan Morrison
We have 150 teams in the best ball tournament on June 18th and 19th with a
total of 300 players. This is up slightly from last year and there are still a few folks
on a waiting list.
The McCall Amateur is full. There will be 3 new players in this year’s event. There
was discussion on the one year 1 time medical exemption list. There will not be a
play in tournament as previously discussed. The format change to an invitational
has been well received. 352 players signed up for the event.

The fund raiser for the relocation of the pro shop stairs is Sunday, June 12th. We
have 6 teams signed up at the moment. The live auction should be well received
with great items up for bid. Thanks to Charlie and Tim Swanson for donating his
place in PGA West for the auction.
We have finalized Jazz on the Green – August 13th and it benefits Snowden and
the Optimus club. 4 groups will be performing.
Rules and Regulations – There was discussion on the rules and regulations of the
McCall Golf Course and how to get those out to the golfing community. I have
attached some of the rules we discussed. A new rule that was added was a golfer
must be 12 years old to play unsupervised. There is a new sign that will be going
up with roughly 6‐8 rules on it and it will be posted between # 1 and 10. You
must still be 16 years old to drive a cart.
New Business
We had extensive discussion surrounding the rules and regulations of the
golf course. There are city ordinances to adhere too, the golf course rules, and
etiquette standards. A motion was made and passed that golfers must be 12
years old to play out on the course unsupervised.
The meeting was adjourned at 6 PM.
