MINUTES
LAW ENFORCEMENT REVIEW BOARD
Meeting of March 23, 1994
The regular meeting of the Law Enforcement Review Board was held on January 26, 1994,
in the City Hall Council Chambers. (The agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown
Act.)
The meeting was called to order at 6:09 p.m. by Chairperson David Willis.
The pledge of allegiance was conducted by Vice Chairperson Don Brantley
Members in attendance were: Don Brantley, Elizabeth Dixon, Hilario Esparza, David Willis.
Boardmember Robert Downs was absent. (Mr Downs advised staff prior to the meeting
that due to a work schedule conflict, he would be absent).
Staff members in attendance: Roger Haley, Pat Alvarez.
The minutes of the February 24, 1994 regular meeting were approved as distributed.
Captain Freeman expressed her appreciation for the invitation to join the LERB meeting
today Captain Freeman also introduced Lt. Jim Robbins, who had been with the Marshal's
Department for over 25 years and is now a member of the Sheriff's Department.
Public Orals
Michael Heriot, former City Manager for the City of Lynwood, spoke about the
beginning stages of the creation of L.E.R.B. He also offered his support to the board
and to its purpose.
Board Member's Orals
Commissioner Dixon asked Capt. Freeman on the status of the "Vikings" issue.
Captain Freeman responded the "Vikings" issue has been investigated and there are
lawsuits are pending, but it's presently a non - issue.
Commissioner Esparza spoke about the tour of the Regional Justice Center, which
was held on March 16.
Chairperson Willis stated that an invitation was extended to City Councilmembers
to attend today's meeting, but as none of the Councilmembers are present, and
there are no other pending businesses, a motion was made and seconded to adjourn
to the April regular meeting.
Adiournment
The meeting adjourned at 6:25 p.m. to the April 27, 1994 regular meeting.
