LYNWOOD WOMEN'S COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
OCTOBER 11, 1994.
The regular meeting of the Women's Commission of the City of
Lynwood was held on October 11, 1994 in the Conference Room at City
Hall (the Agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act )
Dr Betty Jackson called the meeting to order at 3:20 p.m. Members
in attendance were Ethel Pacheco, Della Mazziotti and Dr. Betty
Jackson.
Also present was Friend of the Commission Barbara Anthony,
Councilman Heine, staff members Carol De Jesus and Eugenia Zuno.
Minutes of the regular meeting of October 11 were read.
Motion was moved, seconded and carried to approve the minutes of
October 11, 1994 as read.
EVALUATION OF "CRIME AGAINST WOMEN & WOMEN AGAINST
CRIME."
Ms Pacheco commented that the workshop was a success.
Ms. Mazziotti indicated that the workshop turned out real well.
Dr. Betty Jackson commended Ms. Carol De Jesus, staff liaison and
other city manager staff and her personal staff for a work well
done. Dr. Jackson also extended sincere thanks to Barbara Anthony,
friend of the Commission Additionally, she thanked the Lynwood
Unified School District and the Watts Health Foundation for their
support. Dr. Jackson stated that if it hadn't been for the Watts
Health Foundation the workshop wouldn't have occurred. Dr. Jackson
also thanked Ms. Silvia Lara for the baskets arrangements she
prepared at the last minute.
Ms. Mazziotti gave her sincere thanks to Elisabeth Dixon for her
support and for beautifully decorated the conference rooms.
Carol de Jesus expressed that the workshops were very informational
and the audience mere.

LYNWOOD WOMEN'S COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
OCTOBER 18, 1994,
STAFF REPORT
Staff liaison Carol de Jesus gave a brief financial report on the
conference held September 30, 1994. After Ms de Jesus'
presentation, Dr. Jackson commented that Barbara Anthony,
representing the "Friends of the Commission' will open a bank
account for the commission. Ms. de Jesus, however, indicated that
in an earlier discussion with the City Clerk, the latter expressed
that monies derived from the city function events such as the
conference should be turned in to the City The City in turn, sets
a special account for the commission's use As such, the
jurisdiction of the "Friends of the Commission" over the funds on
monies raised is limited only to whatever funds they themselves
have raised for the Lynwood Women's Commission.
GOVERNOR'S CONFERENCE
Dr. Betty Jackson attended the Governor's Conference for Women held
on October 4, 1994 at Long Beach Convention Center. She reported
that there were over 4,000 women in attendance. She attended
several workshops among which was a session relative to health
care. Overall, it was a very fruitful conference. Dr. Jackson
especially thanked Councilman Heine for having been instrumental in
her being able to attend this conference by calling the Governor's
Office for space availability.

This item was tabled for discussion at next scheduled Commission
meeting of November 8, 1994.
