MOTION TO ADJOURN TO A REGULAR MEETING FOR JULY 12, 1994 IN
THE CONFERENCE ROOM, CITY HALL.
LYNWOOD WOMEN'S COMMISSION
MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
MAY 10, 1994
The regular meeting of the Women's Commission of the City of Lynwood was held
May 10, 1994 in the Conference Room at City Hall. (The agenda was duly posted
as prescribed by the Brown Act.)
Chairperson Mary Sue Lewis called the meeting to order at 3 15 p M. Members
in attendance were. Verna Culp, Dr Betty Jackson, Della Mazziotti, Ethel
Pacheco, and Mary Sue Lewis.
Staff members present was Carol De Jesus and Silvia Lara.
Councilmember present was Louis J Heine. Also present were City Clerk Andrea
Hooper and Barbara Anthony
Minutes of April 12, 1994 was approved as presented.
L COMMISSIONERS BUSINESS
A. OLD BUSINESS
1. Discussion of Commissioners' Retreat
Chairperson Lewis designated Vice Chair Jackson to take the lead
on the discussion of Commissioner's Retreat. Ms. Jackson
mentioned that the purpose for the Retreat is to explore some
policies for the commissioners. Dr Jackson suggested that the
other commissioners from different cities be invited along with
Region IX to the retreat.
Due to the several ongoing events the commissioners undertook the
last few months, it was suggested to move the Retreat /Workshop to
June 23, 1994 Further clarification was made by Dr Jackson to
distinguish the difference between a retreat and workshop.

MINUTES OF THE MEETING OF
MAY 10, 1994
MOVED, SECONDED, AND CARRIED that the Commissioners'
Workshop be postponed until Jame 23, 1994 from 8 30 - 3 00 p m.,
and the retreat to a later date.
MOVED, SECONDED, AND CARRIED that two Congressional
Bills (Crime Against Women) which Ms. Mazziotti presented to
commissioners be mailed to the members.
IL COMMISSIONER(S) AND PUBLIC ORALS
- Ms. Mazziotti wanted to know the status on the 800 number for
Women who need help.
- Dr Jackson mentioned that commissioners'should work with the
sheriffs to establish some type ofpolrcy regarding battered women.
- Ms. Culp mentioned that this Hot Line Number for Battered Women
could be funded by going out to the businesses and asking for help.
- Ms. Anthony thanked the commissioners for inviting her to the
Meeting.
There being no further business, the Lynwood Women's
Commission Meeting was adjourned at 4:30 p.m..
