Roll Call CITY OF LYNWOOD YOUTH COMMISSION The City of Lynwood Youth Commission met in regular session on August 3, 1994 at 6:00 p.m. at the Lynwood Community /Transit Center, located at 3798 Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard, Lynwood. Chairperson Jesus Trigo presided. ROLL CALL Chairperson Jesus Trigo, Vice Chairperson Michelle Zavala, Commissioners Lizeth Gutierrez, Andre Combs, Luis Sandoval, Jennifer McZeal, Emily Gonzalez,, and Cianni Williams answered roll call Commissioners Ruth Acosta, David Hampton, Maylene Hardin, and Steven Moody did not answer roll call. Rasheed Gregory arrived at 6:05 p.m. CERTIFICATION OF THE POSTING OF THE AGENDA Jim Given, Project Manager, certified the posting of the agenda. APPROVAL OF PAST MINUTES It was moved by Commissioner Zavala and seconded by Commissioner Gutierrez to approve the minutes of July 13, 1994 with the correction of. adding Commissioner McZeal to the attendance of the sub = committee meeting. Motion carried. Minutes approved. PROGRAM REPORTS Recreation and Community Services Mr. Given reported on the following Recreation and Community Services events: A. Former minutes clerk, Diana Escalante was appointed Senior Recreation Supervisor for the City of Redlands Her replacement is Mark - Anthony Flores. B. Second Session of Day Camp is drawing to a close with almost 200 participants. Swim lessons and other programs are also going well. C. September 16 program will include dedication of Dymally Park tennis courts in honor of "Pancho" Gonzales. 1 Teen Center and Youth Council (Youth Council representative did not attend meeting) FUNDRAISING DANCE It was reported by Chairman Jesus Trigo that he spoke to the manager at Vasilio's Restaurant. It was noted that Mondays and Tuesdays were the only days available for a dance. Bateman Hall's Room 1 and Room 2 were mentioned as an alternative site Next sub - committee meeting was not agreed upon at the time of this meeting SAN DIEGO ZOO This trip is to be organized as a teen trip. Staff will bring back report on details of trip to next meeting. NEW PROGRAM IDEAS There were no new program ideas. PUBLIC ORALS There were no public orals. STAFF ORALS Mr. Given welcomed Mr. Flores as the new Youth Commission minutes clerk COMMISSION ORALS Commissioner Gregory apologized for his abscenses Commissioner Zavala welcomed Mr Flores as the new minutes clerk. Commissioner Trigo mentioned that the Youth Commission should give Diana Escalante a placque recognizing her efforts on behalf of the Youth Commission. Commissioner McZeal mentioned that flowers could be sent to the Lynwood girls basketball team in wake of their recent accident. ADJOURNMENT It was moved by Commissioner Zavala and seconded by Commissioner McZeal to adjourn to the next regularly scheduled meeting of the Youth Commission on Wednesday, September 7, 1994. All in agreement. Meeting adjourned at 6 45 p.m.
