Adjournment to May 4, 1994 CITY OF LYNWOOD • YOUTH COMMISSION MINUTES OF MARCH 2, 1994 OPENING CEREMONIES The City of Lynwood's Youth Commission met in a regular session on the above date at 6:05 p.m. at the Lynwood Community /Transit Center, located at 3798 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Vice Chairperson Michelle Zavala presided. Roll Call The following Commissioners were present: Vice Chairperson Michelle Zavala, Commissioner Ruth Acosta, Commissioner Rasheed Gregory, Commissioner Lizeth Gutierrez, Commissioner Maylene Hardin, Commissioner David Hampton. The following Commissioner were absent: Chairperson Jesus Trigo, Commissioner Joe Araujo, Commissioner Cameron Green, Commissioner Sabrinya Green, and Commissioner La Chatta Hunter. Certification of the Posting of the A eg nda Jim Given, Project Manager, reported the agenda had been duly posted, in accordance with the Brown Act. Aporoval of Past Minutes It was moved by Lizeth Gutierrez and seconded by Vice Chairperson Zavala to approve the minutes of February 2, 1994, with the following correction. Lizeth Gutierrez made the motion to support the radio station V 103.9 F. M. decision to not play songs that contain lyrics which are sexually explicit or glories drug usage. Motion carried. Minutes approved. SCHEDULED MATTERS PROGRAM REPORTS Recreation and Community Services Department Mr. Given announced the following upcoming city events. A. The Rosa Park Transit Center dedication ceremony is planned for tomorrow March 3 All Youth Commissioners are invited to attend. B. Youth baseball and softball registration has begun. The registration fee is $35.00 per child. Teen Center Felicano Salazar, Youth Council President updated the Commission on the following Teen Resource Center activities: A. A Valentine's Dance was held on Friday, February 11 A total of 76 teenagers attended the dance. B On February 22, an excursion to the Clipper game was held. Youth Service Awards Diana Escalante, staff member, elaborated on the background and the upcoming Youth Service Awards Ceremony The ceremony will be held on Friday, April 29 at 7:00 p.m. at Bateman Hall, Room 1. New Program Ideas None Public Orals None Commission Orals None Adjournment ORAL COMMUNICATIONS It was moved by Commissioner Hardin and seconded by Vice Chairperson Zavala to adjourn to the next regularly scheduled meeting on April 6, 1994. Motion carried. Meeting adjourned at 6:20 p.m.
