Roll Call of Chairperson Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner Commissioner CITY OF LYNWOOD COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE NOVEMBER 16, 1994 MEETING Commissioners present �itsinger Bays Espeseth Fields Hawkins Newton Walker Staff present: Mr. Ralph Davis Mr. Ralph Davis, Director of Recreation & Community Services Department certified the posting of the agenda by the City Clerk Commissioner Fields motioned to approve the minutes of the October 19, 1994 meeting. Commissioner Espeseth seconded the motion The Commission agrees and the minutes were so ordered INFORMATION ITEMS Ralph Davis announced his attending a workshop sponsored by Congressman Walter Tucker's office on the Crime Bill and its status Mr. Davis stated that the 1994 Wall of Fame Dinner and Ceremony was held on November 4, 1994 at Bateman Hall This year's program was a big success. Ross Miller Jr., M D of St Francis Medical Center was inducted into the Wall of Fame for 30 years of dedicated service to the City of Lynwood. Mr Davis next discussed the Volunteer Recognition Awards Dinner held on November 11, 1994 at Bateman Hall. All Volunteers for the Lynwood Recreation & Community Services Department received an award and a portfolio along with dinner for dedicated service to the City. Mr. Davis announced that the Annual Christmas Parade is scheduled for December 9, 1994 at 7 00 p m This year's parade is planned to be one of the best with lots of bands, Drill Teams and floats. Plans are also made to speed up this year's parade and to cut down the cost of this event. t� COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE MEETING NOVEMBER 16, 1994 SCHEDULED MATTERS Mr Davis discussed the first of two upcoming programs First being the Community Service Day program which involves people of the community and their desire to help out others within the community This year staff is proposing that the commission sponsor an inhouse program for two days to bring the community together and help out the needy Food baskets, Christmas trees and entertainment will be provided to brighten the Christmas holiday for those in need. Leaflets have been mailed to each of the Commissioners regarding the program along with other matters the commission is involved with. Applications for this program will be distributed within the City and at the schools. This program will be held on December 19, 1994 from 12:00 noon to 3:00 p m. The second program is Oh Christmas Tree. Community Affairs Commissioners are to go out in the community and judge trees decorated by the various Block Watch Clubs in Lynwood This event will be held on December 19, 1994 at 5:00 p m Awards will be presented on December 21, 1994 at the regular Community Affairs Commission meeting scheduled at the Community Transit Center
