MINUTES OF THE MEETING
AUGUST 17,1994
ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS
The Community Affairs Commission met in a regular meeting on October
11, 1994 at the City of Lynwood City Council Chambers, located at
11330 Bullis Road. (Agenda was duly posted a prescribed by the
Brown Act.)
Chairperson David Litsinger called the meeting to order at 5:00 p.m.
Commissioners in attendance were Espeseth, Litsinger, Hawkins, Bays,
Fields, Newton and Walker
Staff present: Ralph Davis.
It was moved by Commissioner Fields and seconded by Commissioner
Espeseth to approve the minutes of August 17, 1994. All in Agreement.
Minutes so ordered.

AUGUST 17, 1994
FALL PROGRAM
Mr Davis announced the completion of our Fall schedule, which
will be going via Public Relations for printing. This program will be
providing a number of workshops open to the community Examples
include, how to start your own business, different physical activities,
piano, vocal and some adult education. Other events include.
County Fair on 9/21, Youth Day on 9/24. Mr Davis continues, other
events consist of a Swim Program, 2 fields trips to Knolls Berry Farm
and a Christmas Parade on 1212. Ail commissioners are welcomed_
Mr Davis announced the scheduled opening of 8 Afterschool
Playgrounds available the 1st week of October, for the ages of
5 - 13 years old. Events will be planned with the School District
to help contribute On Saturday, October 29th there will be a
Halloween Carnival. Games and prices available.
Mr Davis announced Council approved the adatements at said
meeting. Mr Davis then concludes Recreation and Community
Services Activity Report. Mr Litsinger then asked about a particular
area on Fernwood near Lugo Park. Mr Davis said he would look
into it.

B. SEPTEMBER 16TH
Mr Davis announced the dates for the upcoming celebration.
1 st event will be held on Sept. 14th at Bateman Hall in honor
of "Fiesta Patrias" (Mexican Independence Day). Consisting of
Happy Hour, an exciting dinner and live entertainment. Time -
6:00 p.m. Tickets $10.00. 2nd event will be on Sept. 17th in
Lynwood Park by The Community Wide Program. Dedication of
the new Tennis Courts will follow championship match in honor of
Richard Pancho Gonzalez. Also a All -Star soccer match, arts and
crafts. Time - 10:00 a.m. Admission - Free
C. SHERIFF STATUS
Mr Davis announced the re- location of the Sheriff Station to Justice
Center Grand opening to be held on August 27, moving in Saturday,
August 28. Open for business sometime in September This will
enable the expansion of City Hall.
II!. SCHEDULED MATTERS
A. Block Watch Captains Report

Mr Davis announced that on August 27 the 1st of 2 Block Watch
Captains Workshop will meet with the citys department. Enabling
priviledge information on how to utilize the various block watch
clubs. A binder will be provided to all the Block Watch Captains

B. Farmers Market Report
Mr Davis announced due to the illness of the consultant in charge
certain certificates had not been filed in time. Causing this market
to retrain from opening. Problems will be looked into and reported
back.
