Preview of Lynwood Showcase # 62 COMMISSIONERS' /STAFF REPORT PUBLIC ORALS ADJOURNMENT - TO NEXT REGULAR MEETING ON October 10, 1994 0 0 COMMUNITY CABLE ACCESS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 8, 1994 MEETING The regular meeting of the Community Cable Access Advisory Commission of the City of Lynwood was held August 8, 1994 at the Lynwood Cable Studio. (The Agenda was duly posted as prescribed by the Brown Act.) Chairperson A. Ann Fields called the meeting to order at 5.30 P.M. Commissioners in attendance were Bill Cunningham, A. Ann Fields, Ada McZeal and Ethel Pacheco. Board member Bill Lewis Jr was not in attendance at the meeting. Staff present were Johonna Jacobs - Howard, Ron Roberson and Serena Coulson Staff person Johonna Jacobs - Howard introduced the new CCAAC Minutes Clerk, Serena Coulson to the Commissioners. Commissioner Cunningham motioned to approve the minutes of the July 11, 1994, meeting as stated. I. INFORMATIONAL ITEMS A. Event Video Taping Request Forms Commissioner Fields stated that the Event Video Taping Request Forms are beautiful. She also commended Staff person Howard for the Event Video Taping Request Forms. Staff person Howard explained the event video taping process to the Commissioners. Commissioner Mc Zeal asked about fees. Staff person Howard stated that the Lynwood Media Services charges for copies of tapes, and video tape services. Staff person Howard stated that Ron Roberson was hired as a part- time employee. She also stated that the City of Lynwood Cable/ Public Relations Department needs a budget to staff more people. Commissioner Fields stated that the CCAAC ask that Staff person Roberson's employee benefits be activated immediately. Commissioner Mc Zeal stated that Staff person Roberson should be placed on full -time status. 0 9 COMMUNITY CABLE ACCESS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 8 1994 MEETING II. SCHEDULED MATTERS A. Date for Second Annual Cable Awards Reception Commissioner Fields suggested that the Second Annual Awards Reception be held on November 14, 1994 B. Suggestions for Second Annual Cable Awards Reception Commissioner Mc Zeal asked when the Cable Awards Reception should be held. Commissioner Fields suggested holding the Cable Awards Reception at the CCAAC meeting time. Staff person Howard explained her ideas for the Cable Awards Reception, she also, suggested Bateman Hall as the site to hold the Cable Awards Reception. Commissioner Fields suggested to inquire about the availability of Bateman Hall. The suggested time for the Cable Awards Reception is 6.30 p.m. Commissioner Fields suggested that a budget be worked out for the Cable Awards Reception. Staff person Roberson suggested that an award be given to Perry Brents, and called the PB Award. Staff person Howard suggested to have a guest speaker at the Cable Awards Reception. All the CCAAC Commissioners agreed on having a speaker. Commissioner Fields suggested the Cable Awards Reception be a dressy affair. C. Video Production Course for Commissioners Staff person Roberson explained and demonstrated the basic movements of the video camera to the CCAAC Commissioners. In return, Commissioners Mc Zeal, Cunningham, and Pacheco practiced the basic movements with the video camera. Commissioner Mc Zeal suggest that research be done to fmd out what other cities are negotiating for in their franchise agreements with their cable operations. Commissioner Fields asked about workshops and conferences for CCAAC to attend. Staff person Howard suggested the National Association of Telecommunication Operators and Associates (NATOA). Commissioner Fields suggested to ask the City Council for funds. 0 COMMUNITY CABLE ACCESS ADVISORY COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE AUGUST 8, 1994 MEETING D. Preview of Lynwood Showcase #61 The viewing of Lynwood Showcase #61 included the following program segments: 1. Washington Elementary Graduation 2. Graffiti Clean Up 3. Juneteenth Celebration 4. 4th of July/Unity Festival THERE BEING NO FURTHER BUSINESS, THE COMMUNITY CABLE ACCESS ADVISORY COMMISSION MEETING WAS ADJOURNED AT 6:50 P.M. 0 MEMORANDUM Date: September 12, 1994 I* To Community Cable Access Advisory Commission From: Johonna Jacobs - Howard, Project Manag -- ublic Relations Subject:' Update On CCAAC's Second Annual Awards Program Since the last Community Cable Access Advisory Commission meeting on August 8, staff has been working on the preliminary preparations for the upcoming awards program. The following information is provided for the Community Cable Access Advisory Commission: The 2nd Annual CCAAC Cable Awards Program will be held on November 14, 1994 at Bateman Hall, Room 2. The program will begin with a buffet of light hors d'oeuvres at 6.30 p.m. At approximately 7-00 p.m. the awards program will begin. 2. CCAAC's Awards Program is a dressy affair Room 2 will be set -up theatre -style to accomodate approximately 75 persons. Also, there will be a podium with microphone and a large television set for showing video footage. 4. Room 2 will be decorated with a balloon cluster(s) or arch at the front of the room. Serena will be the hostess and everyone will be asked to sign -in for our records. 6. Suggested MC's for the program: a. Dr Cynthia Powell of Hudson Lindsay Group Home b. Dr Henry Esparza C. Reverend Matthew Harris d. Emma Esparza e. ? f. ? 171 0 7 Guest Speaker- John Clodfelter, Program Director of Continential Cablevision in Downey- presentation on the benefits of public access programming to a community Special awards: PB Award to Perry Brents; implemented Lynwood Showcase CCAAC's Award to Mary Wright; one of the founding member of cable advisory board and staunch supporter of community programming with the inception of Lynwood Showcase CCAAC's Award to Continential Cablevision for its continued support Other Awards: Perfect Attendance Award Best Group Project Award Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award Most Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award Cable Host Participation Award Lynwood High School Student Trainees Lynwood Adult Cable Production Workshop Certificates 10 Ron & Johonna will prepare a short video on the history of cable in Lynwood that will be shown at the program.
