COMMISSION ORAL COMMUNICATIONS ADJOURNMENT Motion to adjourn to the regularly scheduled meeting on May 17, 1995 at 5:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers, 11330 Bullis Road, City of,Lynwood, CA 90262. 0 CITY OF LYNWOOD COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE MARCH 15, 1995 MEETING The Community Affairs Commission meeting of March 15, 1995 was called to order by Chairperson David Litsinger at 5 15 p m. The pledge of- Allegiance,was led by Commissioner Bette Espeseth. Roll Call of Commissioners present: Chairperson David Litsinger Commissioner Bette Espeseth Commissioner Barbara Newton Commissioner Yolanda Bays Commissioner Lucille Walker absent Commissioner Ann Fields absent Commissioner Yolanda Bays absent Staff present: Mr. Ralph Davis Mr Ralph Davis certified the posting of the agenda Commissioners Espeseth motioned to approve the minutes of the March 15, 1995 meeting. Commissioner Newton seconded the motion. The Commission agrees and the minutes were so ordered. INFORMATION ITEMS Mr Ralph Davis distributed to all Commissioners copies of the current News Releases and a copy of the letter to Mr. Michael Hite, President of the Lynwood Chamber of Commerce regarding the Parking and Business Improvement District. Mr. Ralph Davis stated that the Spring /Summer brochure will soon be ready to hand out The brochure will include classes, trips and Day Camp information as well as other programs in the City. Mr. Davis attended the California Recreation and Pacific Southwest Park Convention which was held in San Jose, California. There were 450 different Recreation agencies in attendance. There were representatives from Nevada, Arizona and Oregon. The title for this years convention was Unity. The intent of the California Recreation and Pacific Southwest Park Convention was to unify and identify the various resources. Therefore many projects have been collaborated with other agencies Information on the COPS MORE PROGRAM was passed out. Commissioners were asked to look it over and if any questions should arise please call Ralph Davis and he will further explain the program. Minutes of the Block Watch Captain's Meeting were also handed out to all Commissioners. 0 0 COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE MEETING MARCH 15, 1995 SCHEDULED MATTERS Chairperson David Litsinger was present at the City Council Meeting the night they formally approved to have the Community Affairs Commission serve as the Advisory Board for the Parking and Business Improvement District. Chairperson Litsinger responded to the City Council that the Community Affairs Commission would be more than happy to serve the Council. Chairperson David Litsinger informed the Commissioners that he mailed a letter to the Lynwood Chamber of Commerce stating that the Community Affairs Commission was formally chosen to serve as the Advisory Board for the Parking and Business Improvement District. The Advisory Board is to consist of eleven (11) members. Seven (7) members will be from the Community Affairs Commission and the remaining four (4) will be from the Lynwood Chamber of Commerce all who must be members in good standing The City Council recommended that the President of the Lynwood Chamber of Commerce be one of the members. Errick Lee, Executive Director of the Lynwood Chamber of Commerce was present at the meeting. Errick stated that the Chamber has selected the four members form the Lynwood Chamber of Commerce who will serve on the Advisory Board along with the Community Affairs Commission. The Lynwood Chamber of Commerce members who will serve on the Advisory Board are the following: Michael Hite, President of the Lynwood Chamber of Commerce Arnie Henderson, 1st Vice - President of the Chamber of Commerce Michel Patel, 2nd Vice - President of the Chamber of Commerce Robert Herrera and Leighton Hull (alternate) Errick Lee will serve as staff person attending meetings on behalf of these members. Errick Lee's recommendation to his Executive Board is for everyone to meet in the months of April, May and June during the time in which the budget study for funding of the Chamber of Commerce is done through the Business Improvement District. The Chamber of Commerce members will meet with the Community Affairs Commission at the regular Community Affairs Commission meetings The Community Affairs Commission will recess at 5:30 p.m. to begin the Business Improvement Advisory Board Meeting. PUBLIC ORALS None • • COMMUNITY AFFAIRS COMMISSION MINUTES OF THE MEETING MARCH 15, 1995 COMMISSIONERS ORALS Commissioner Newton stated that school is in session again therefor she has returned to work Commissioner Espeseth reported that the weed patch where Lucky's used to be is extremely high Lucky's does not want to sell the property therefore the City of Lynwood is going to claim eminent domain. They are going to build 52 homes on Atlantic by St. Phillip Neri the building will be three (3) stories high. Chairperson Litsinger reported that all principals are having to do extra work lately due to the fact that there is a shortage of staff No formal presentation has been made for the winning school in the Mathathon competition. The scheduled date for the presentation of the award is set for March 28, 1995. The meeting was adjourned at 5 45 p.m. by Chairperson David Litsinger and,seconded by Commissioner Bette Espeseth
