Local Option Tax Commission
Meeting Minutes
April 11, 2006
Call to Order
The Local Option Tax Commission meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. Those present were Steve Gleason, Roger Snodgrass, Andrea Butler, Lance Daniels, and Amanda Kirkpatrick. Chairman
Gleason declared a quorum present.
City Clerk Joanne York was present.
New Business
Overview of Commission Responsibilities:
Chairman Gleason and Lance Daniels gave a brief overview of the history and responsibilities of the Commission.
Introduction of Members:
Each member introduced themselves and gave a brief discussion about their interests in serving on the Commission.
Publication of request for applications:
The members approved a newspaper article to be published in The Star-News. Chairman Gleason said he would deliver the article to The Star-News office immediately after adjournment in
hopes that the article would be included in the
April 13th issue.
Schedule:
The following schedule was approved for publications and for meetings:
April 13 First Publication for Submittal #1
April 20 Second Publication for Submittal #1
April 25 Deadline for Submittal #1
April 27 Publication for Submittal #2
May 2 Meeting for Review #1 - Golf Course Club House at 6 p.m.
May 4 Deadline for Submittal #2
May 9 Meeting for Review #2 - Legion Hall at 6 p.m.
May 16 Meeting for Final Review - Legion Hall at 6 p.m.
May 23 If needed - Legion Hall at 6 p.m.
City’s Website:
The request was made to have Dave Simmonds, Information Services Director, post the request for funds form on the City’s website.
Other
There was discussion concerning the requirements for membership on the Commission, whether or not members must reside within the city limits, and whether or not a temporary representative
could participate in meetings during a member’s absence. The City Clerk will research these questions and send an e-mail reply to members as soon as possible.
The Commission has an opening for one other representative from another committee. The City Clerk will ask other committees if any of their members would be interested in also serving
on the LOT Commission.
Adjournment
As there was no further discussion, Chairman adjourned the meeting at 7:35 p.m.
