HomeMy Public PortalAboutLot Commission Minutes 5-9-06CITY OF MCCALL Local Option Tax Commission Meeting Minutes May 9, 2006 Call to Order The Local Option Tax Commission meeting was called to order at 6:05 p.m. Those present were Amanda Kirkpatrick, Andrea Butler, Lance Daniels, Pat Eames, Roger Snodgrass, Steve Gleason, and Tom Stilinovich. Chairman Gleason declared a quorum present. City Clerk Joanne York was present. Requests for Funding Brock Heasley, Parks and Recreation Director, had to leave to attend another meeting; he was allowed to present his three requests at this time. (34) Removal and disposal of docks and logs north of Legacy Park and Mile High Marina ($4,800) (35) Fairway Park drinking fountain ($1,977) (36) Seal parking lot at Rotary Park ($3,000) Approval of Minutes Roger Snodgrass moved to accept the Minutes of May 2, 2006. Mr. Daniels seconded, and the motion carried. April Remittance Report Joanne York, City Clerk, reported that payments were up to date as of April. Requests for Funding, continued The following funding requests were presented to the Commission by the applicants: (22) Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary for an interpretive center ($28,289) (23) Shepherd’s Home for a swing set ($1,026) (31) McCall Public Library for murals on moveable panels ($5,000) (32) Waaf, Inc., for YMCA programs ($25,000) (33) McCall Senior Citizens Center for equipment ($3,950) (37) Central Idaho Historical Museum for outdoor improvements ($16,000) (38) Chamber of Commerce for the Million Lights Program ($20,000) (39) McCall Tennis Club to patch and resurface tennis courts ($29,000) (17) Jughandle Musical Theatre – response for more information from their presentation at the May 2nd meeting The Commission decided the request for a swing set from Shepherd’s Home did not meet any of the criteria for a LOT funding request. However, several members of the Commission made donations to cover the entire cost. Recommendations and Prioritization of FY 05-06 Revenue The Commission made the following recommended allocations for the FY 05-06 surplus revenue, subject to City Council approval: McCall City Chamber - Million Lights Program ($20,000) McCall City Golf Course - finish club house renovation ($6,250) Alpine Playhouse - electrical upgrade ($5,000) McCall United Soccer Club - equipment and uniforms ($2,364) McCall Parks & Recreation - summer intern ($4,000) Total amount of recommended allocations: $37,614 These recommendations will be presented to the City Council on May 25, 2006. Recommendations and Prioritization of FY 06-07 Revenue After a lengthy discussion, the following requests were approved for further consideration: (01) Golf Course Advisory Committee for three seasonal personnel ($16,000) (02) Friends of Payette Avalanche Center for snow avalanche education ($5,000) (04) Nordic Ski Team for equipment only ($2,000) (05) Golf Course Advisory Committee for equipment ($26,000) (06) Judo Club for travel expenses ($1,000) (09) Youth Basketball for uniforms and equipment ($4,000) (10) Folklore Society for performance expenses ($3,000) (11) AWESOME for equipment purchases ($5,500) (12) Treasure Valley Transit to maintain service ($31,362) (15) McCall Improvement Committee for the Four Corners enhancement ($3,000) (16) Jughandle Musical Theatre for equipment and advertising ($2,000) (17) Jughandle Musical Theatre for an outdoor theatre ($25,000) Tom Stilinovich offered to ask for more information concerning a potential contract between Jughandle Musical Theatre and Kevin O’Leary. (18) Chamber of Commerce for summer seasonal personnel ($15,000) (19) Chamber of Commerce for 4th of July fireworks ($5,000) (20) McCall Area Snowmobilers for trail grooming $20,000) (22) Snowdon Wildlife Sanctuary for an interpretive Center ($28,289) (24) Community Development & Infrastructure for a water truck ($5,000) (26) McPaws for general operating expenses ($7,500) (27) McPaws for building renovation ($13,500) (28) McPaws for a spay/neuter program ($12,500) (32) Waaf, Inc., for YMCA programs ($10,000) Andrea Butler offered to check with the Waaf representative and get more information about programs they would like to offer.
