ATTENTION SENIORS!M !
THE COLOR OF MONEY TOUR
The City of Lynwood Recreation and Community Services Department is
offering the following tour on February 23, 1995 to seniors 55
years or older. There is a minimum of 20 participants and a
maximum of 30 participants. First come, first served.
This popular tour begins with a visit to the Los Angeles branch of
the Federal Reserve Bank - probably the most secure building in all
of L.A.! On this fascinating 90 minute tour, you'll see how our
nation's central banking system functions. Watch as millions of
dollars are deemed "unfit" and shredded before your very eyes!
You'll see millions more of newly minted money in the highly -
secured vaults. Learn how more than 2.8 million checks a day
are processed at a rate of 2,400 per minute. Next, we're off to
Little Joe's Italian Restaurant, located in, of all places,
Chinatown! We will dine at this Los Angeles landmark eatery.
You'll have some time after lunch for visiting the import shops of
Chinatown before heading on to the Wells Fargo Museum. Upon our
arrival, we'll be joined by a guide as we take a trip back in time
to the days of the California Gold Rush. A time when glittering
piles of gold dust were accepted as bank deposits! All the color
of a by gone era is captured for you at the Wells Fargo treasure -
filled history museum. Highlights include an authentic 19th -
century stagecoach, a 2 pound gold nugget, prospecting and assaying
equipment, bank notes, maps and more. Climb aboard a stagecoach
and listen to a first -hand description of a 3 -week journey from St.
0
0
Louis to San Francisco taken in 1859. And discover the history of
the Wells Fargo Bank from its founding in 1852 through the 1906 San
Francisco earthquake and into today's electronic age.
The cost of this trip is $19.00 per person (cash only). The bus
departs from the Lynwood Community /Transit Center at 8:30 a.m. and
returns approximately at 5:30 p.m. Registration is now being taken

visit?
"The public recreation swim schedule has been created to
accommodate the entire family," continues Coles. The February
