Clerk.
Chairperson Mendoza called for a vote on the minutes for the
Recreation and Parks Commission meeting held on September 26, 1995
Commissioner Espeseth motioned to approve the minutes, Commissioner
Lopez seconded the motion, all were in agreement and the motion was
passed.
L.U.S.D. Financial Worksho
After a brief discussion on the Lynwood Unified School District's
request to have fees waived on Bateman Hall for a Financial
Workshop, the Commission voted 3 to 2 against this request.
Reasons given for this decision were; 1) the School District has
funds allocated for workshops; 2) they have space in their own
building; and 3) the City can not continue to waive fees on all
special events because staff salaries and maintenance costs must be
met
Chairperson Mendoza would like to see the fee waiver topic on a
future Recreation and Park's Meeting agenda, so that a fee waiver
guideline can be developed and followed.
Modes & Mums Fashion Show
The Lynwood Womens Club is requesting the waiver of fees on their
annual Modes `n' Mums Fashion Show Mr. Given points out that the
money raised by these ladies is used for scholarships.
Commissioner Martini motions to waive the fees and Commissioner
Espeseth seconds the vote, all are in agreement and the motion is
so ordered

CHRISTMAS FESTIVAL AT PIECEMAKERS - SATURDAY DECEMBER 2 1995 FROM
8:30 A.M. TO 4:30 P.M.
Celebrate the holiday season at Piecemakers' Annual Christmas
Festival. Some of you may recognize the name "Piecemakers" from
the label on your quilting needles. To others it may conjure up
the idea of a country store filled with every imaginable type of
craft and craftmaking supply. But to the people at Piecemakers, it
is actually a way of life. Housed in a 12,000 - square -foot brick
building, Piecemakers offers everything from ribbons and trims, to
handcrafted toys, books, clothing and more! As you stroll from
room to room, you'll discover cookbooks, dolls and teddy bears,
old- fashioned candy, racks of books and patterns, handmade quilts,
fabrics and unique one -of -a kind gifts. There are also craft rooms
where you can paint or stencil, glue or make T- shirts. And for one
weekend every December, the place really comes to life with special
booths offering holiday crafts, gifts and food. There is also live
musical entertainment at the festival. After spending the morning
at Piecemakers, we'll head down to Newport Beach for an elegant
holiday luncheon aboard Charley Brown's Reuben E. Lee. The rest of
the afternoon is set aside for more holiday shopping at Fashion
Island. This outdoor premier shopping center in Newport Beach
features more than 200 stores, including Neiman - Marcus, always a
fun place to visit during the holidays to see their extravagant
"His & Her" gift ideas.
