LYNWOOD WOMEN'S COMMISSION MINUTES FOR AUGUST 08, 1995
The regular meeting of the Women's Commission of the City of
Lynwood, California was held on Tuesday, August 08, 1995 at 3:00
p.m, in the Conference Room of the Lynwood City Hall, 11330 Bullis
Road, Lynwood, California The Agenda was duly posted a s
prescribed the Brown Act
In attendance are:
1) Vice Chair Della Mazziotti
2) Commissioner Verna Culp
3) Commissioner Ethel Pacheco
4) Commission Liaison Carol De Jesus
5) Minute Clerk Eugenia Zuno
Vice Chair Mazziotti opened the meeting at 3:10 p.m.
I. ADMINISTRATIVE ITEMS
A. Pledge of Allegiance was led by Commissioner Culp.
B. Minutes of July 11, were approved with necessary
corrections on page 1, first paragraph and page 2, second
paragraph:

A FUND RAISING EVENT

Commissioner Verna Culp nominated
Vice Chair. It was moved and
[t Della Mazziotti be the new Vice
Women's commission, all in favor
Commissioners discussed "Las Vegas Night."

Ms Carol De Jesus informed the Commission that a letter
signed by Mary Sue Lewis as Chair, Della Mazziotti as
Vice Chair and Verna Culp as Secretary was given to
Council for their endorsement.

She also indicated that the City Manager was informed of
said event. City Manager feels that the Casino Night is
considered a gambling event. He therefore asked staff to
get City Attorney's opinion. As such Vice Chair
Mazziotti requested that this event be put on hold until
response from City Attorney is received.
III. NEW GOALS AN OBJECTIVES
Vice Chair Mazziotti requested the Commissioners to bring
new ideas to September 12, 1995 Women's Commission
Meeting.
Ms. Mazziotti indicated that she would like to see the
Commission do more for women and children. She said that
one way of doing this would be getting more involved
with the Women and Children Center here in Lynwood. She
also suggested that the Commission volunteer some hours
to the center and possibly getting a room there
Commissioner Culp indicated that she has spoken to a lady
from that center and was told that there are many things
that they need assistance on.
IV STAFF ORALS
Vice Chair Della Mazziotti asked if Mr Heine to install
them at the September 12, 1995 meeting. Commissioner
Verna Culp suggested to have an installation dinner at
El Farallon Restaurant here in Lynwood All in favor
Commissioner Verna Culp suggested it would be nice to
have some tokens.
Ms De Jesus wi•11 make necessary arrangements for said
luncheon
Commissioner Ethel Pacheco suggested that the
Commissioners who do not wear a Commission pin will be
penalize with $1 at each meeting.
