REGULAR MEETING OF THE WOMEN'S
CITY OF LYNWOOD
MAY 09, 1995
COMMISSION
The regular meeting of the Women's Commission of the City of
Lynwood, California was held on Tuesday, May 09, 1995, 3:00 p.m.,
in the Conference Room of the Lynwood City Hall, 11330 Bullis Road,
Lynwood, California. The Agenda was duly posted as prescribed by
the Brown Act.
CALL TO ORDER
Mary Sue Lewis, Chair called the meeting to order at 3:10 p.m.
Roll call was taken by Ms. Eugenia zuno, Minute Clerk.
Commissioners in attendance along with Chair Mary Sue Lewis were
Dr. Betty Jackson, Della Mazziotti, Ethel Pacheco, and Verna Culp.
Also in attendance was staff liaison Carol De Jesus and Councilman
Heine.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion was made to approve the minutes with corrections as follows:
Second paragraph of evaluation of progress of Fashion & Tea Event
to state Ms Mazziotti aforesaid the awards were beautiful but her
only concern was that the event was too commercial Second
paragraph on staff orals to state Ms Mazziotti indicated that
transportation was going to be provided by the City to take them to
Olvera Street and walk to the Hall of Administration building.
Information left out on the minutes as follows: Commissioner Culp
explained to Commissioner Mazziotti that the Fashion & Tea event
was intended to be a fundraiser. Ms. Culp also informed the
Commission of election of officers

Fashion & Tea Event:
Chair Lewis questioned if there were any financial reports for said
event Ms. De Jesus gave a brief explanation of the expenditures
as this was discussed at the last meeting

NEW BUSINESS
Casino Night in Lynwood Event
As requested by Chair Mary Sue Lewis at the last meeting of May 09,
1995, the ommissioners presented suggestions and information that
was gathe� relative to the upcoming Casino event Mary Sue Lewis
suggested that the Commission assist Commissioner Pacheco and
Commissioner Mazziotti as they are lead coordinators for this
event
Further discussion of this event was tabled for upcoming meeting of
June 13, 1995.
STAFF ORALS
Commissioner Dr. Betty Jackson informed the Commission of a
Domestic Violence Shelter for women in the City of Carson that she
participated in. She was also instrumental in getting this project
started through a grant proposal. Dr. Betty Jackson sincerely gave
thanks to Mayor Pro Tem Louis Heine and Chair Mary Sue Lewis for
their support and attendance to the Hyper Tension Symposium she
held.
