CONFERENCE ROOM AT CITY HALL
The regular meeting of the Women's Commission of the City of
Lynwood, California was held on Tuesday, February 14, 1995 at 3:00
p.m., in the Conference Room of the Lynwood City Hall, 11330 Bullis
Road, Lynwood, California The Agenda was duly posted as
prescribed by the Brown Act.
CALL TO ORDER
Mary Sue Lewis, Chair called the meeting to order at 3:12 p.m. Roll
call was taken by Ms. Eugenia Zuno, Minute Clerk. Commissioners in
attendance were Dr. Betty Jackson, Della Mazziotti, Ethel Pacheco,
and Verna Culp, Also in attendance was staff liaison Carol De
Jesus, Friend of the commission Barbara Anthony, Elizabeth Dixon
and Councilman Heine.
PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE
Pledge of Allegiance was led by Mary Sue Lewis, Chairperson.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion was made to approve the minutes of January 24, 1995 with
corrections on page one (1), 1st sentence of the Commission's
Future Goals and Objectives paragraph to state "Commissioner
Mazziotti informed the Commission of a National Women's Political
Caucus that will cover the entire general areas" and page two (2)
3rd sentence on Staff Orals to indicate that Ms Culp hopes that
the Labor Law will be passed in 1996

COMMEMORATING WOMEN'S MONTH
At a previous meeting the Women's Commission agreed to present
fund - raising ideas The Commission presented their ideas at the
February 14th, 1995 meeting The Commission agreed on a Casino
Night in Lynwood program suggested by Commissioner Pacheco. They
alsc agreed to calendar the discussion of this program to the April
meeting in order for the Commission to concentrate on commemorating
women's month. Commissioner Della Mazzioti suggested to honor
someone in the month of March. Commissioner Pacheco agreed and
indicated that women in general should be commemorated Staff
Liaison suggested to honor Anne Fields and Elizabeth Dixon. The
Commission decided on a Fashion and Tea program Chair Lewis
stated that this will serve as a fundraiser.
Commissioner Culp asked the commission to set a date and time
Chair Lewis appointed Commissioner Culp to be the chair of this
program and Commissioner Mazziotti to assist. The Commission
decided to have this program on March 30th, 1995 from 12:00 to 3:00
p.m in the afternoon.
The Commission agreed to have:
- A fashion show
- a raffle
- Door prize
- Lunch
- Tea, coffee and punch
- Vendor Booths
- Commission agreed to have a table at the program in which
each commissioner will gather personal belongings to be
put on the table.
- a discount for senior citizens.
Commissioner Verna asked Barbara Anthony, friend of the Commission
if she had any ideas. Ms Anthony suggested a talent show.
The Women's Commission decided to have a call meeting on March 7th,
1995 to further discuss this program.

Commissioners Della Mazzioti, Ethel Pacheco, Verna Culp and Chair
Mary Sue Lewis expressed that the monies allocated by Council
remain in the Lynwood Women's Commission funds.
