Teen Center /Youth Council Character Counts Week October 15 -21 Yuba City Youth Commission Conference New Program Ideas Public Orals Staff Orals Commission Orals Adjournment to October 4, 1995 0 9 Commission Minutes For August 2, 1995 The City of Lynwood Youth Commission met in regular session August 2, 1995 at 6:12 p.m. at the Lynwood Community Transit Center, located at 3798 Martin Luther King, Jr Boulevard, Lynwood. Vice - Chairperson Sandoval presided Rita Manibusan swore in new Commissioners in attendance. Ralph Davis, Director of Recreation and Community Services gave an official Department welcome. ROLL CALL Commissioners Sandoval, Acosta, Gregory, Hardin, McZea1, G Hardin, Nava, and Williams answered roll call Commissioners Zavala, Gutierrez, Hampton did not answer roll call CERTIFICATION OF THE POSTING OF THE AGENDA Mark Flores certified the posting of the agenda APPROVAL OF THE PAST MINUTES Approval of Minutes of the July 5, 1995 meeting was motioned to be approved by Commissioner Gregory and seconded by Commissioner McZeal all passed unanimously. PROGRAM REPORTS Recreation and Community Services Mr. Flores reported on the possible involvement of the Youth Commission in " Character Counts " Week sponsored by the City of Lynwood, St. Francis Hospital and The Community Violence Task Force. Youth Council /Teen Center It was reported that the Teen Center is getting ready to sponsor the Hosler Jr. High School Afterschool Playground, more information in the next meeting. The Teen Center will also have a trip to Dodger Stadium in September GENERAL REPORTS Mr. Flores reported that the Yuba City Youth Commission will be having its Second Annual Youth Commission Conference in October. Attendance at this conference was to be discussed in the August 23 sub - committee meeting. NEW PROGRAM IDEAS The Youth Commission voted unanimously to not go into a Summer hiatus despite the poor Commission attendance this Summer The Commission will continue to meet as usual. Public Orals Jesus Trigo welcomed the new Commissioners and wished them luck STAFF ORALS Staff invited all Commissioners to attend the Affirmative Action meeting to be held the following day at the Lynwood Unified School District. COMMISSION ORALS Commissioner G Hardin expressed her being `glad to be on the Commission. Commissioner Williams was impressed by the Commission and looked forward to providing her input Commissioner M Hardin expressed her concern with the election process resulting in the new officers She also welcomed the new Commissioners. Luis Sandoval welcomed the new Commissioners. ADJOURNMENT Commissioner M. Hardin moved that the meeting be adjourned to the next regularly scheduled Youth Commission Meeting and seconded by Commissioner McZeal All in favor Meeting adjourned at 7:05 p.m.
