ORDINANCE FOR IHPRO~ TO BEWEI/Ly STRt;KI'
W~, Beverly Street has been established on the official maps of
the Borough of Carteret; and
W~EREfiS, the Mayor and Council have deemed that it is desirous of
improving Beverly Street from Leffert Street west to the intersect with
Hayward Avenue; and
WHEREAS, the Governing Body has determined that said improvements are
local improvements to the benefit of property owners on Beverly Street;
and
~WeJ~EfiS, the Mayor and Council have received bids for the
construction of sewers, road improvements and curbing and has allocated
funds for the payment of these costs and intends to assess property in the
¥icinity of Beverly Street which benefit or increase in value due to these
zmprovements;
_ BE IT ORDAII~q~I) that the Mayor and Council of the Borough of C~rteret
hereby approves the contract of DeFino Trucking for the improvements to
Beverly Street at a bid cost of $1,216,197.25.
BE IT FURRItER ORDAINED that pursuant to the authority granted to the
Borough by N.J.S.A. 40:56-1 et seq., the Borough intends to assess all
~roperty in the vicinity of Beverly Street which benefit from said
zmprovements and/or increase in value due to said improvements.
BE IT FUR~ ORDAIN~I) that the costs of the improvements to the
sewers shall be exempt from any special assessment in as nmch as they are
not local in nature.
BE IT FL~ ORDAINED that consistent with N.J.S.A. 40:56-19 the
Mayor and Council shall upon completion of the contract certify to the Tax
Assessor the cost of said improvements thereby allowing for a public
hearing on the special assessment.
