HomeMy Public PortalAbout06-02-1997 Continued Session I . . 14'7 MINUTES HILLSBOROUGH TOWN BOARD June 2, 1997 8:30 AM, Police Department Training Room The Hillsborough Town Board met in continued session on June 2, 1997 at 8:30 AM in the Police Department Training Room for the purpose of finalizing the FY' 97-98 Budget. Present for the Board Meeting were Mayor Horace Johnson, Commissioners Richard Simpson, Catherine Martin, Evelyn Lloyd, Remus Smith and Kenneth Chavious. Staff present were Town Manager Eric Swanson, Town Clerk Donna Armbrister, and Finance Director Sherry Carter, Mayor Horace Johnson reconvened the meeting at 8:40 AM, Town Manager Eric Swanson requested that the Board give further specific direction to the Finance Director for Budget finalization. Commissioner Simpson expressed his concern that the Fairview Sub-Station/Community Building issue has been around for so long and no action has been taken, Mayor Johnson directed the staff to place this item on the agenda for the next Board Retreat. After much discussion and upon a motion by Commissioner Simpson, seconded by Commissioner Smith, the Board moved to: · Delay the employment of a new Police Officer for six months. · Appropriate $5,000 from the Fund Balance for the Fairview Park. · Delete the purchase of one computer and printer from the Police Department. · Delete the purchase 8 mm surveillance camera from the Police Department. · Delete the bicycle from the Police Department. by a vote of3-2 with Commissioners Simpson, Smith, and Chavious voting Aye; and Commissioners Lloyd and Martin voting Nay. The motion was declared passed. By consensus, the Board directed Interim Town Manager Carter to write a letter to Orange County Manager John Link to request a one year extension to the Town's contract for fire inspections. ADJOURN Upon a motion by Commissioner Smith, seconded by Commissioner Simpson, the Board adjourned the meeting at 10:00 AM. The motion was declared passed, ~~ Donna F. Armbrista', Town Clerk 1
