A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING AN AGREEMENT BETWEEN
THE CITY OF LYNWOOD AND THE LOS ANGELES COUNTY
DEPARTMENT OF ANIMAL CONTROL TO PROVIDE ANIMAL
CONTROL SERVICES.
WHEREAS, the City presently administers the dog
licensing program at a cost of about $22,000 whereby an average
of $23,000 in revenues are collected;
WHEREAS, for FY 92 -93, the County can provide
similar services including the dog licensing program and
canvassing for a net cost of $137,359, which includes a $25,000
start up fee;
WHEREAS, the City can potentially save about
$103,00 over a three year period by contracting with the County
starting FY 92 -93 and withdrawing from SEAACA;
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council does hereby
approve the replacement of the present animal control services
being provided by SEAACA with Los Angeles County Department of
Animal Control.
SECTION 2: That the City Council approve the
replacement of an in -house dog licensing program with Los Angeles
County Department of Animal Control.
SECTION 3: That the City Council authorize staff
to work on the adoption of Title 10 of the Los Angeles County
Code in place of the Lynwood Municipal Code, Chapter 8 Animal
Control Ordinance.
SECTION 4: That the City Council authorize the
Mayor to execute a five -year contract effective July 1, 1992 with
the Los Angeles County with a stipulation that the City may
terminate the contract upon a 30 day written notice to the
County.
