A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE PURCHASE OF
A SOUND LEVEL METER
' WHEREAS, Ordinance No. 922 amends Chapter 26 of
the Lynwood Municipal Code (Chapter 26 LMC) entitled "Noise
Regulation "; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 26 LMC relating to noise
regulation, declares that at certain levels, noises are
prohibited for the purpose of securing and promoting the health,
comfort, safety, and welfare of the public; and
WHEREAS, Chapter 26 LMC designates an allowable
safe noise level for each commercial or noncommercial zone; and
WHEREAS, under Chapter 26 LMC, any sound level
measurement shall be measured with a Sound Level Meter, an
instrument that measures sound levels; and
WHEREAS, the Lynwood Sheriff's Station and Code
Enforcement Division do not have a Sound Level Meter with which
to enforce the code relative to noise level violations.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
' SECTION 1: That the City Council does hereby
authorize the purchase of the Sound Level Meter.
SECTION 2: That the City Council approve, by a
4 /5th's vote, the purchase to be conducted informally as the City
is likely to get the best prices.
SECTION 3: That the City Council appropriate
$13,814 from the Sheriff Drug Seizure Fund for this purpose.
SECTION 4: This resolution shall take effect
immediately upon its adoption.
