A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE
CITY OF LYNWOOD AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN
A LETTER URGING GOVERNOR PETE WILSON TO SUPPORT
AB 2090, A WATER MARKETING LEGISLATION
WHEREAS, in 1991, for the first time in decades,
many Southern California cities faced serious water shortages;
and
WHEREAS, the development of a voluntary water
marketing policy will bolster the region's total supply and help
reduce water shortage impacts on the water customers; and
WHEREAS, AB 2090 (Katz) would allow water to move
from agricultural uses to urban uses by making it easier for
farmers to sell water to drought- stricken cities; and
WHEREAS, many residents have responded favorably
to the challenges of mandatory water conservation programs.
NOW, THEREFORE, THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
LYNWOOD DOES RESOLVE AS FOLLOWS:
SECTION 1: That the City Council does hereby
authorize the Mayor to sign a letter urging Governor Pete Wilson
to support AB 2090.
SECTION 2: That the City Council direct staff to
send copies of the letter to various members of the Senate.
PASSED, APPROVED AND ADOPTED this 4th day of
February , 1992.
