HomeMy Public PortalAbout87-131 (09-01-87)RESOLUTION NO. 87 -131 A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPOINTING HENRY S. BARBOSA AS CITY ATTORNEY AND THE FIRM OF WILSON, BECKS & PYFROM AS DEPUTY CITY ATTORNEY WHEREAS, the City Council desires 'to retain Henry S. Barbosa of Vera to act as City Attorney and to pr consulting services to the City; WHEREAS, Henry S. Barbosa and Vera are specifically experienced and services desired by the City, and are services; of the City of Lynwood the law firm of Barbosa & Dvide representation and the law firm of Barbosa & qualified to perform the willing to perform such WHEREAS, the need will arise throughout FY 87 -88 for Deputy City Attorney's - services to accommodate the legal needs of the city; WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Lynwood desires to utilize the services of the firm of Wilson, Becks & Pyfrom as Deputy City Attorney; WHEREAS, the firm of Wilson, Becks & Pyfrom is qualified to render such legal services; NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood does resolve as follows: Section 1. Henry S. Barbosa is hereby appointed as City Attorney for the City of Lynwood. Section 2. The monthly retainer for general legal advice to the City shall be $3,000.00 per month for up to thirty - five hours per month, and thereafter at the rate of $90.00 per hour. Section 3. Representation in litigation matters, administrative hearings, and personnel matters shall be at the rate of $100.00 per hour, plus costs as approved, including postage, copying and long distance phone calls. Representation for labor relation matters shall be charged first against the retainer, and thereafter at the rate of $100.00 per hour. Section 4. Deputy City Attorney's services shall be performed by the firm of Wilson, Becks & Pyfrom as may be required from time to time at a level to be negotiated by the firms of Barbosa & Vera and Wilson, Becks and Pyfrom. Section 5. The term of this resolution shall expire on September 1988, Section 6. It is understood and agreed by the parties that Henry S. Barbosa and the firm of Barbosa & Vera are, and shall remain, independent contractors under this resolution. Section 7. The City Clerk shall certify to the adoption of this resolution.
