A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APP,ROVINe /
AN AMENDMENT TO THE JOINT EXERCISE OF P�GWERS_
AGREEMENT BETWEEN THE CITIES OF DOWNEY,_.NORWALK, �.
PICO RIVERA, BELL GARDENS, LYNWOOD, MONT EBELLO,
AND PARAMOUNT TO ADMIT THE CITY OF SANTA +FE y
SPRINGS AND AMEND THE JOINT POWERS AGREEMENT,
WHEREAS, the Cities of Downey, Norwalk, Pico Rivera, Bell
Gardens, Lynwood, Montebello and Paramount have established
the Joint Powers Southeast Area Animal Control Authority (here-
inafter "Authority "); and
WHEREAS, the Authority has provided quality animal control
service including license canvassing campaigns, neighborhood
patrol services, emergency veterinary care and kennel services
for animals in a cost effective manner to all cities participat-
ing in the progrc.m; and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa,Fe Springs has expressed its
desire and intent to participate in the services provided by
the Authority and to become a member of the Joint Powers South-
east Area Animal Control Authority: and
WHEREAS, the City of Santa Fe Springs has reviewed the
content of the Joint Powers Agreement and is fully aware of
all the conditions therein; and
WHEREAS, in July, 1984, four members were admitted to the
Joint Powers Authority, at which time they were not required
to buy into or pay for reimbursement to the then existing Auth-
ority member cities for any previous expenses incurred for facil-
ity development; and
' WHEREAS, it is necessary to amend the Joint Powers Agree-
ment to provide for the admittance of the City of Santa Fe Springs;
and
NOW, THEREFORE, the City Council of the City of Lynwood
, does find, determine and declare as follows:
SECTION 1 . The City of Lynwood does approve of an Amend-
ment to the Joint Powers Agreement admitting the City of Santa"
Fe Springs to full membership in the Authority effective Jan-
uary 1, 1988.
" SECTION 2. The City of Lynwood does agree that the City
of Santa Fe Sprin -g's shall not be required to buy into or pay
for reimbursement to the Authority member cities for any prev-
ious expenses incurred for facility development.
S 3. The Mayor of the City of Lynwood is hereby
authorized to execute said Agreement on behalf of the City.
SECTION 4. That a copy of this Resolution shall be for-
warded to the Authority.
