A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY COUNCIL OF
THE CITY OF LYNWOOD IN SUPPORT OF
TELEPHONE COMPANY PARTICIPATION IN
THE DELIVERY OF CABLE TELEVISION SERVICE
WHEREAS,
exchange telephone

WHEREAS,
provide a competit
that now dominates
current federal law generally prohibits local
companies from providing cable television
telephone company entry into the market would
ive alternative to the single cable company
most local markets; and
WHEREAS, this competition would result in lower rates,
greater diversity of program choice, and more rapid development
of new services; and
WHEREAS, the National League of Cities and the National
Conference of Black Mayors have unanimously passed resolutions
calling for telephone company entry into the cable TV industry.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council
of the City of Lynwood, believing that full competition is the
best means for obtaining the highest quality and low -cost cable
television service for the American public, hereby endorses the
elimination of the restriction,against telephone company partic=
ipation in the delivery of cable television service.
PASSED, APPROVED and ADOPTED this 18th day of April , 1989.
