RESOLUTION NO. 89 -96
"A RESOLUTION OF THE CITY OF LYNWOOD APPROVING
THE USDA SUMMER FOOD SERVICE PROGRAM AND
ENTERING INTO AN AGREEMENT WITH LONG BEACH
UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT AS MEAL PROVIDER"
WHEREAS, the United States Department of Agriculture has allocated
funds for local agencies to serve meals to young people during the summer
' months; and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood has successfully met all eligibility
requirements and has been a 1 -teal sponsor during the prior two (2) years; and
WHEREAS, the Recreation and Parks Department has administered the
program for the City: and
WHEREAS, the City of Lynwood ?_s again eligible to act as a
sponsoring agency; and
WHEREAS, the Summer Food Service Program serves almost twenty -one
thousand (21,000) meals to residents of the City of Lynwood; and
WHEREAS, the TJSDA will reimburse the City of Lynwood for meals
costs and a portion of the administrative cost of the program; and
WHEREAS, Long Beach Unified School District has served as our meal
provider for the prior two (2) years;
NOW, THEREFORE, be it resolved that the City Council hereby:
1. Approves the filing of the application for the 1989 USDA Summer Food
Service Program; and
2. Authorizes staff to enter into a contractual agreement with Long Beach
Unified School District to provide all meals for the Summer Foad
Service Program.
