OLD BUSINESS a.) Open Position - Advisory Board Joel Hellerman was introduced and talked lengthily about his background and passion to be on the board primarily for recreation. The advisory board was impressed with his passion and asked many questions about what he saw the community needed. Jane Cropp introduced herself and let the committee know about her background and was interested to be on the board primarily for recreation. She was also asked many questions. Shawn Treasure introduced himself and talked about his background and his passion for water sports, adult and youth activities. The advisory members voted 4 votes for Jane Cropp and 2 votes for Joel Hellerman. Jane Cropp will be the advisory committees’ recommendation to City Council as the new Parks and Recreation Advisory Member. This will go to City Council on January 11th. b.) Concessionaire Use at Legacy Beach (RFP) Each member has a copy of the old Request for Proposal and will be prepared with changes for the new 2007 RFP at the January meeting. Jenny Ruemmele suggests that the proposal includes extra added point score for businesses located in City limits. We also talked about restricted hours, minimum age, and having the agreement state cancelling the immediately. Kevin Briem asked Ray Dupree to research the state code on distances for boating by a swimming area. IV. NEW BUSINESS PARKS a.) New Public Boat Ramps (Ray Dupree) Ray went to the Valley County Waterways meeting this month. They want more late access on Payette Lake. They will pay for new docks if we have the space available. Kevin Briem would like to see floating docks, all agree. I will go to the next meeting, along with Ray. We might be able to use Rotary. We will also talk to them about paying to dreg the boat launch dock. Kevin asked about the fish pen dock decision. City Council made the decision to leave it in that location. b.) Sub Committees and what will they be (Kevin Briem) Ron will chair Riverfront Park. Kevin Briem will chair the pathways. His concern if it gets to big and he will get to spread out and he would prefer to step down to make sure the pathways get somewhere. Jenny Ruemmele will chair the recreation. Jenny is highly interested in a Community Center/Recreation Center for the community. I gave her a phone number and contact person who would also like to help with this idea. Ron Rooth will also talk to Jenny after the meeting to help her with some ideas. Jenny let us know that the school does not want to put in pathways when they put in the new school. All members did not like this and some will voice their opinions when it comes up at the school board meeting. Kevin would like to start finding information (property owners, length of city property owned, etc) along Dienhard to get the ball rolling. I asked Jim to start looking into this, since the meeting though, Ryan and I will start making progress on this subject. c.) City Codes that allow for "Commercial" use for City parks. Ray Dupree is concerned with other business renting equipment from the concessionaires at Legacy Beach and then taking people out for pay on the lake. The City Manager has said this is okay to do. I am unsure if Ray’s question was answered and is free to bring this subject up again. RECREATION a.) Dodge ball Dodge ball was very successful this year. We had eight teams with about 60 participants. b.) Youth Basketball (3rd/4th and 5th/6th Grade) We have about 100 participants this year and we are looking forward to a great year.
