HomeMy Public PortalAboutjulyPARKS AND RECREATION ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING Minutes July 9th, 2008 – Legion Hall, McCall, Idaho 83638 – 6:00 PM CALL TO ORDER Jim Clarke called the meeting to order at 6:00 pm. Members present were Brigit Wiking, Shawn Treasure, Nathan Stewart, Jim Clarke and Carl Barrett. Jenny Ruemmele was absent. APPROVAL OF MINUTES Jim Clarke made the motion to approve the minutes for June. Carl Barrett seconded the motion and all approved. INTRODUCTION OF GUEST No guests were present OLD BUSINESS RECREATION a.) Summer programs Below is a list of programs this summer: Completed Free fishing gear loaner program Youth Baseball Youth Softball Youth Outdoor Games Swimming Lessons Youth Mountain Biking Youth Tennis Lesson Youth Skateboarding Music on the Lake (3 bands this year) Today T-Ball Tennis Lessons Hiking Club Adult Softball Swimming Lessons Youth Soccer Camp (Monir) Youth Skateboarding Coming Up Summer Youth Fishing Days Adult Skateboarding Youth Skateboarding U-12, U-14, U16 Girls Fast Pitch Softball Tournament Senior Softball Tournament Swimming Lessons PARKS Art Roberts Bathroom Art Roberts restroom presentation to p and z is August 5th. Shorty asked each member to find three to four friends or interested parties to write a letter to community development in support of the restroom. Fairway Park - lighting Gabe Rodriguez will supply the poles, concrete, hook ups, cover half the costs of the lights, and talk to the northern homeowners. Our responsibility is half the costs of lights, donation of electrical hook up, p and z design review and talk with aspen condos. NEW BUSINESS RECREATION a.) Website Joe is working on cost for the website. The advisory committee’s concern is staff being able to change information quickly. Staff will work with McCall Web Design and ask these questions. b.) Fall programs In roughly two weeks staff will begin brainstorming fall programs and will present our fall programs to the advisory committee in August. PARKS a.) Recycling – Fairway Park Recycling containers are about half full at fairway park. b.) Legacy Park – remodel, parking, boat launch ramp We received $4000 from WAC towards the boat launch ramp project. Staff will get public works to help with the project thus only costing us roughly $1200. Park remodel is going fine and urban renewal is still looking about additional boat trailer parking. c.) Valley County Marine Deputies Jim Clarke informed the committee that anyone can be pulled over in a boat for any reason and boats that were pulled over numerous times last week were only pulled over because they went through the check point numerous times. Comments from committee members Nathan would like staff to look at Adult Soccer this summer and talk with the high school coaches for field use and organizing the program.
